The opportunity
ASIO is seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant Director to join the Network Services Directorate leadership team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for leading and enabling a team of technical officers in the development and sustainment of mission-critical technical capabilities across Enterprise Networking and Unified Communications. This role is critical in delivering on strategic initiatives, supporting the deployment of next-generation networking capabilities and positioning the organisation to meet future requirements.

A merit pool may be created to fill future vacancies which have the same or similar requirements to this position. This merit pool will be valid for up to 18 months.
This role may attract an additional technical skills allowance of up to 10% of base salary.
Role responsibilities
* Leadership and Team Management: Provide leadership and support to technical officers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. Coordinate the delivery of Network Services projects in partnership with the Directorate's senior officers.
* Project Management: Identify, manage, and coordinate work packages on a day-to-day basis, allocating technical resources to meet business needs in a timely manner.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with all levels across the Organisation, the National Intelligence Community, and international partners to deliver strategically important projects.
* Procurement and Contract Management: Provide support to the Directorate's procurement and contract management activities through engagement with internal stakeholders and industry partners.
* Project Planning and Development: Contribute to the development of project submissions, including planning resources, schedules, and budgets.
What you will bring

* Experience in leading and managing ICT teams and the coordination and prioritisation of effort to achieve mission critical outcomes.
* Good knowledge of and experience in Australian Government procurement, budgeting and contract management principles.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and documentation skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with a collaborative and supportive mindset.
* Strong interpersonal and liaison skills and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external to the Organisation.
* Effective and flexible work prioritisation skills, including the ability to maintain a forward work program and coordinate multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in information technology, computer science or related disciplines are advantageous.
A background in Networking is not an essential requirement for this role as you will be supported by highly experienced and knowledgeable officers, however an ICT background and relevant tertiary qualifications in information technology, business administration or related disciplines would be advantageous.

These positions are located in Canberra. Relocation assistance is provided to successful candidates where required.

Employment conditions
Employment is under the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation Act 1979. Conditions of service are similar to those applying in the Australian Public Service. We recognise entitlements accrued under the Public Service Act 1999 and provide for continuation of superannuation under the Commonwealth schemes. Salary packaging arrangements are also available.
