Responsibilities - Research within a project of the Austrian Science Fund FWF. - Topics: continued fractions, Diophantine approximation, analytic number theory, with connections to harmonic analysis, probability theory, geometry. - The aim is to write a PhD thesis and receive a PhD degree in mathematics. - Participation in seminars, conferences, summer schools, etc. - Project leader and PhD thesis supervisor: Christoph Aistleitner. Admission Requirements - This is a 3 year positition. The duration of the PhD curriculum at TU Graz is also 3 years, so it is planned that you start and complete your PhD studies during the period of the employment. - You must have a master's degree in mathematics (or equivalent degree). If you don't have a master's degree right now, there must be a clear perspective of having it at the time when the employment starts. - Start of employment: preferred between August and October 2025. Earliest possible date is 1st August, 2025. This position does not have any teaching duties (but teaching is possible, if desired). - Application has to contain: CV, copy of the master's thesis, short motivation letter with a description of special mathematical knowledge and interests.
