National Manager - Governance, Risk and Compliance
EREA Flexible Schools Ltd currently educates over 2,000 young people in 21 Flexible Learning Schools (12 based in Queensland and 9 other schools across Australia) and two Special Education Services Schools in Sydney. Flexi schools serve young people who experience complex educational, social or psychological situations which demand unique responses. They enable young people to engage in education in a supported learning environment through a methodology based on trauma informed practice, to co-create a Common Ground using Operation by Principles, in which the principles of Honesty, Respect, Participation, Safe & Legal are embedded.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The National Manager - Governance, Risk and Compliance reports to the Chief Operating Officer and provides strategic leadership, oversight and advice regarding the EREAFSL Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF), compliance and incident management programs, and governance and regulatory reporting. The role monitors all schools within the entity for compliance with legal and regulatory obligations, and ensures that necessary systems, processes and policies exist in order to enable key accountable leaders to execute their respective roles effectively. The role is responsible for analysing risk related issues and working closely with Regional Directors and regional Risk and Compliance Managers (or similar) to ensure effective risk management, and the creation of a culture of risk awareness, safety and compliance. The National Manager – Governance, Risk and Compliance drives continuous governance and compliance improvement and ensures timely and appropriate design and delivery of effective risk and compliance analysis, insights and reports to the COO, CEO and EREAFSL Board.
KEY ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE:
* Understanding of and commitment to the values of a Catholic educational system of schools in the Edmund Rice tradition.
* Understanding of and commitment to the identity and practice of EREA Flexi Schools.
* Demonstrated capacity to be an influential leader in creating a culture of safety and compliance.
* Understanding of the governance and compliance environments in which EREAFSL operates.
* Understanding of system and school risk and compliance management frameworks, practices, and reporting systems.
* Experience in conducting assurance activities to confirm the operation of frameworks, policies and procedures.
* Ability to demonstrate the high-level communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills necessary to be successful in a complex and layered organisational structure.
* Organisational and administrative capacity to fulfil the functions of the role.
* Proven leadership experience, characterised by strong analytical, managerial, communication, and leadership skills, with high attention to detail.
* Appropriate qualifications and relevant professional experience.
* Strength in balancing continuous improvement with organisational and regulatory requirements, informed by data analysis and performance metrics.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Ability to develop collaboration, trust and confidence through listening, effective communication and humility.
