Job Summary
We are seeking a candidate to fill the role of Global Legal Counsel Trademark Clearance, Team Lead. This position involves managing global trademark clearance searches, overseeing team members, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure effective trademark protection.
Responsibilities
* Conducting, analyzing, and reviewing trademark clearance searches via various databases and search machines.
* Preparing worldwide trademark clearance reports and making recommendations on how to overcome third-party trademark obstacles as necessary.
* Reviewing complex US and international trademark clearances prepared by TMC legal counsel and providing input on results.
* Overseeing and signing off on trademark clearances for new projects, products, events, cartoons, occasion packs, limited edition cans, and key visuals.
* Coordinating risk assessments from local counsels, as necessary, and liaising internally with Prosecution, License, and Brand Enforcement Teams.
* Supervising, supporting, and managing a team of six in clearance matters, reviewing their drafts, and supporting them in their roles.
* Approving or challenging invoices of external counsels and supporting the IP Counsel with managing the Clearance budget.
Requirements
* Law Degree (LLM in IP Law preferred)
* At least 5-7 years of experience in intellectual property law, specifically in international trademark searches and clearances.
* Solid experience in managing high volumes and complicated trademark clearances in a global context.
* Solid experience in managing a team of Legal professionals (Legal Counsels, Paralegals).
* Fluency in English; German is a plus.
* Strong communication skills and good risk analysis and decision-making skills.
* Sound business judgment and strategic thinking.
* Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
* Analytical, professional, and solution-oriented working style.
* Familiarity with SAEGIS and other search applications.
* Travel: 0-10%.
