We specialise in the supply, installation, and servicing of heavy-duty safes for residential, commercial, and government clients. We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee our day-to-day operations at our Thomastown HQ.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a hands-on and results-driven Operations Manager to take ownership of our business’s ongoing operations, with a strong focus on managing our truck deliveries and installation services in Melbourne. This is a pivotal role requiring both operational expertise and sales acumen, as you will be responsible for coordinating safe deliveries, liaising with clients regarding their installation requirements, and managing internal and external teams.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics, warehouse management, and team leadership, with a particular focus on freight deliveries for niche, heavy products like safes. They will work closely with senior management to streamline operations for maximum efficiency and profitability while ensuring that deliveries are executed seamlessly. Additionally, you will oversee our internal SAS system (Simpro), coordinating with both in-house staff and offshore administrators to maintain accurate job details, pricing, and pre-installation setup. Your role will be critical in ensuring smooth workflows, minimising delivery issues, and optimising resource management.
Key Responsibilities: Operations & Logistics Management
* Oversee and manage daily truck operations to ensure timely and efficient deliveries of safes across Melbourne.
* Work with internal stakeholders to prioritise incoming jobs, ensuring a seamless sales-to-delivery process.
* Oversee freight and logistics for national deliveries, ensuring cost-effective and efficient operations.
* Supervise warehouse operations, including stock management, packing, and secure strapping of goods to prevent transit damage.
* Utilise Machship and other freight management platforms to track, update, and coordinate freight consignments.
* Engage with contractors and transport providers to ensure timely and compliant deliveries.
* Act as the first point of contact for clients, handling inquiries regarding installations and deliveries.
* Gather necessary information from clients to ensure seamless delivery and installation of safes.
* Identify opportunities to upsell services such as installation, relocation, and maintenance.
* Work closely with senior management to develop and implement operational strategies that enhance efficiency and profitability.
* Oversee Simpro (SAS system) to track jobs, update consignment details, and ensure seamless operational flow.
* Drive a culture of continuous improvement, providing training and support to staff.
Candidate Profile:
We are seeking a proactive and results-oriented professional who can own and drive operational success. The ideal candidate will have:
* Proven experience as an Operations Manager, ideally in safe and vault installation or in logistics and freight handling of heavy, complex items.
* Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience overseeing both on-site and remote teams.
* Hands-on experience in managing deliveries of heavy and high-value goods.
* Sales aptitude with the ability to engage with clients, understand their needs, and offer solutions.
* Strong understanding of cloud-based systems and modern technology (experience with Simpro is a bonus).
* Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt and think critically.
* High-level organisational and time management skills.
* A proactive and hands-on approach, willing to be involved in all aspects of operations.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in Google Workspace is a bonus.
