As Senior Manager of the Lab Automation team, you will lead a team in Process Analytical Sciences (PAS) at our TRD Biologics site in Schaftenau (AT).
About the Role
Your responsibilities
1. Act as operational manager for a medium-sized team.
2. Define and lead implementation of the global Analytical Development (AD), analytical automation strategy at the Austrian site.
3. Develop new automation approaches to advance analytical methodologies in collaboration with the global team.
4. Contribute to the Laboratory Automated Robotics Assistance (LARA) and PAS strategies.
5. Evaluate new equipment and technology projects related to automation in collaboration with the global team.
6. Drive innovation for advanced data sciences through Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) for foundational and new Data & Digital solutions e.g., LIMS, CDS, eLN, etc.
7. Establish and leverage academic and external collaboration.
8. Ensure excellent collaboration with all partners and have experts in your team for questions and discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
9. Support capacity, facility, and equipment planning to enable successful execution on the Biologics portfolio.
10. Assure all project activities are performed in a compliant way and in a timely manner, meeting project demands and timelines.
11. Ensure compliance of activities with quality standards Data Quality Plan (DQP), safety standards (Health & Safety Executive (HSE)), and other Novartis standards.
Minimum requirements
1. Sound technical and scientific knowledge of pharmaceutical development, analytical sciences, or equivalent.
2. Knowledge of people management.
3. Experience leading diverse and multifunctional teams.
4. Knowledge of Health authority regulations.
5. Excellent communication, presentation, and management skills.
6. Proficiency in oral and written English.
7. Role model for unbossed, curious, and inspired leadership in Novartis.
Desirable requirements
1. University degree (Master/PhD or equivalent) in life sciences.
2. Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
3. Minimum of 2 years in a leadership position with successful performance and track record of leading teams.
4. Experience with using and programming Liquid handling systems like TECAN and Hamilton would be an advantage.
