Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive, organized, and resourceful Community and Partnerships Manager to collaborate closely with the leadership team of Torus and the local community. In this multifaceted role, you will be instrumental in shaping Torus and our emerging partner platform, overseeing operational efficiency, and driving resource-building initiatives and partnerships. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in tech, startups, and forging partnerships that have accelerated innovation and revenue growth in startups, with preference for experience in Accelerator Programs & Networks based in San Francisco, New York, or Austin.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ecosystem Building & Partnerships
o Lead revenue generating partnership efforts within the tech and startup community, developing strategic relationships with corporates, universities, government agencies, and community organizations.
o Identify and execute strategic partnerships, events, and programs that foster collaboration, knowledge-sharing, deal flow and revenue within the innovation ecosystem.
2. Operational Excellence
o Oversee cross-functional initiatives that generate revenue and resources, maintaining accountability and efficiency across investment, operations, and accelerator or incubator programs.
o Implement and refine internal processes, tools, and systems to support agile decision-making and seamless collaboration.
3. Project Management
o Plan and execute high-priority projects, ensuring timely progress, stakeholder engagement, and measurable outcomes.
o Proactively identify potential bottlenecks or risks, proposing solutions to keep projects on track and aligned with strategic objectives.
o Support fundraising initiatives by preparing pitch materials, coordinating investor updates, and managing relationships with current and prospective Limited Partners (LPs).
o Collaborate with the finance team to compile data rooms, manage due diligence processes, and maintain transparent communications with key stakeholders.
4. Team Coordination & Communications
o Facilitate effective communication across the organization, ensuring alignment between investment, operations, marketing, and partnership teams.
o Organize leadership meetings, document key actions and decisions, and ensure follow-through on commitments.
o Provide operational and resource support to portfolio companies, particularly around partnership opportunities and ecosystem integration.
o Collaborate with accelerator/incubator stakeholders to optimize program design, curriculum, and founder engagement.
5. Culture & People Engagement
o Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and diversity within the fund and across portfolio companies.
o Mentor and develop junior team members, helping build a strong talent pipeline and fostering professional growth.
6. Leadership Support
o Assist in managing executive calendars, coordinate meeting agendas, and synthesize essential information to ensure leadership time is leveraged effectively.
Qualifications & Experience
1. Tech & Startup Background: At least 3 years of demonstrated success within tech startups, venture funds, innovation labs, or similar fast-paced environments.
2. Ecosystem Building: Proven track record in cultivating partnerships and collaborations within the U.S. or Asia tech ecosystem (e.g., with corporations, universities, government agencies, community organizations).
3. Revenue Mindset: Proven success in generating revenue and resources for startups.
4. Operational & Project Management Skills: 3-5 years of professional experience driving complex initiatives across multiple teams, delivering results under tight deadlines.
5. Partnership Development: 3-5 years of strong negotiation, sales and relationship-building skills to forge alliances that increase value for both the fund and the partners.
6. Communication & Influence: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of aligning diverse stakeholders around a shared vision.
7. Adaptability: Thrives in an agile, rapidly evolving environment; adept at juggling multiple priorities and pivoting as needed.
