Position Title: Senior Communications Officer

About the Role:
Seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Communications Officer to join a high-profile government agency in South Brisbane. Lead the design, development, and implementation of diverse communication strategies and initiatives that align with organizational priorities. Working closely with leadership, you will provide expert advice, deliver impactful communication products, and foster relationships with key stakeholders to ensure strategic objectives are met.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide expert communication advice to the Director, ensuring strategies align with strategic objectives and proactively address communication risks and trends.
2. Develop and implement communication campaigns, social media strategies, and marketing initiatives to support recruitment and retention activities and promote a positive workplace culture.
3. Author and edit various communication materials, including media releases, speeches, feature articles, corporate publications, and web content. Ensure communications are inclusive and accessible to people with disabilities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
4. Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate cooperation and alignment with strategic objectives.
5. Lead the implementation of strategic communication objectives, ensuring consistent and effective messaging.
6. Coordinate participation in public events and community engagement initiatives, including logistical and communication support.
7. Manage project plans, budgets, and supplier performance for communication projects, ensuring high-quality delivery of research, advertising, design, video production, and other related services.
8. Provide support to the Director, Strategy and Engagement, and other team members as required.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will:
1. Demonstrate expertise in designing and implementing strategic communication campaigns and initiatives.
2. Possess strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to tailor content for various audiences and channels.
3. Have experience in stakeholder engagement, fostering relationships to achieve communication objectives.
4. Be adept at managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and delivering high-quality outputs in a dynamic environment.
5. Exhibit leadership skills, particularly in managing communication teams during high-pressure situations.
6. Be familiar with best practices in accessible and inclusive communications.
