Wagga Harness Racing Club is currently seeking applications from motivated candidates for the position of Racing & Events Manager for our club. This is a full-time opportunity for an individual with knowledge and passion for sports administration and/or harness racing.The successful candidate will work closely with the committee in all aspects associated with operations of the Wagga Harness Racing Club racing and events calendar.WHRC is the principal harness racing club in the Riverina, conducting approximately 50 harness racing meetings each year. In addition, the club assists the seven Southwest & Riverina harness racing clubs to operate when called upon. Functions and events outside of race meetings are not currently permitted at the Club.The successful applicant will continue the strong growth and financial viability of the Wagga Harness Racing Club and will manage the operations in collaboration with the WHRC Committee.Responsibilities:Attendance and organisation of race meetings, trials and major eventsLiaison with HRNSW in relation to nominations, race programmes and other industry activitiesAsset management & compliance – track, plant & equipment, building & grounds infrastructure and liaison with service providersManaging full-time, part-time & casual staff and contractors and organisation of recruitment processesAdministration tasks, including bookkeeping, safety, compliance, lease & licensing, oversee ITAttendance of and preparation of Board Meeting agendas & minutes, compliance for AGMRepresentation of WHRC and liaison with industry participants including owners, trainers, drivers and industry committeesMaintain current sponsorships and drive new sponsorship opportunitiesDrive other key income-generating activities including Functions, TAB turnover, Grants & MembershipDrive attendance and participant engagement both through the community and social mediaQualifications:An understanding of the harness racing industryCompetent computer skills – Microsoft Office and OutlookOrganisational skills with the ability to multitaskForward thinkingClear and confident communicatorAbility to work independently and cohesively within a small teamDesire and ability to go above and beyond job description to progress the WHRCCurrent Responsible Service of Alcohol & Responsible Conduct Gambling accreditation or willingness to obtain as well as Licence Manager for premisesCurrent First Aid accreditation or willingness to obtainIf you possess the relevant skills and experience and want to lead WHRC through its next phase, please submit your covering letter and resume to WHRC Treasurer Brendan Bryce at (emailprotected) by 14th February 2025.An appropriate market-related remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate.
