Coordinator Governance, Strategy and Risk

The Coordinator Governance, Strategy and Risk works in partnership with operational Portfolios to facilitate a supportive and safe environment for employees, contractors, visitors and other stakeholders.
Primary objectives of the position
* Oversee all operational objectives and goals of Governance including supporting all areas of Council with regard to Governance matters.
* Oversee Council’s compliance with all legislative and statutory requirements.
* Manage and investigate (as required) complex complaints concerning public matters within Council policies, procedures and legislation.
* Support the Audit and Risk Committee and internal audit functions of Council.
* Manage the Right to Information (RTI) process.
To be successful in this role you must have
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in a Business, Governance, Law, Public Policy related field or substantial significant experience in a similar role or demonstrated experience relevant to the position.
* Current Queensland “C” class drivers licence.
Knowledge, Skills & Expertise
* Ability to perform effectively within a politically sensitive environment.
* Demonstrated leadership experience in a similar role for a local government or a multi-functional organisation.
* Sound knowledge and understanding of corporate governance.
* A strong commitment to Enterprise Risk Management and the ability to assess organisational and community risk impacts and assist in the development of systems to mitigate these risks.
* Experience working with complex legislation with the view to interpreting and improving processes to deliver specified outcomes.
* Demonstrated ability to take complex and disparate information and make a determination of the core issue and then devise a process to achieve the desired outcome.
* Established track record to meet workload pressure and conflicting demands.
* Understanding of audit, risk and compliance.

* Demonstrated ability to lead with a focus on achievement and innovation in the delivery of sound corporate governance.
* Demonstrated high level communication, consultative, interpersonal and negotiating skills.
* Experience in developing and promoting a strong focus on quality customer service and an environment of continuous improvement.
What we can offer you
* Base Salary range $111,279.72 to $117,814.67 plus locality allowance (the level offered will be determined on the successful candidate’s qualifications and or experience).
* Up to 12% superannuation (conditions apply).
* 5 weeks’ annual leave with 17.5% leave loading.
