About the role
Liontown Resources is seeking a Senior Mine Geologist to join our Geology Team, supporting both Open Pit and Underground operations at our world-class Kathleen Valley Lithium Project. With open-pit mining in the Kathleen's Corner pit ramping down and set to cease later in 2025, and underground operations ramping up with a 20+ year mine life, this is a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic and evolving mining operation.
This role will be a permanent opportunity based at our Kathleen Valley lithium operation on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth.
Reporting to the Mine Geology Superintendent, this role will see you play a critical part in resource modelling, grade control, mine planning support, geological mapping, and data analysis. We are looking for a highly skilled geologist who is adaptable, enjoys working across different mining environments, and can collaborate effectively with mine planning, engineering, and geotechnical teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Resource Modelling & Estimation - Develop and update geological models, integrating drill hole data and geological interpretations.
* Grade Control - Implement and manage grade control programs to optimise ore recovery and minimise dilution.
* Geological Mapping & Data Collection - Conduct underground or open-pit geological mapping to define ore zones, structures, and lithology.
* Mine Planning & Collaboration - Work closely with mine planning, engineering, and geotechnical teams to incorporate geological insights into mining strategies.
* Geotechnical & Geochemical Assessments - Provide geological input to support slope stability in open-pit operations or stope design in underground environments.
* Quality Control & Reporting - Ensure the accuracy of geological data, conduct analysis, and prepare geological reports for operational decision-making.
* Exploration & Resource Development - Identify potential areas for further resource definition and contribute to ongoing exploration programs.
About you
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Mining Geology, or a related field.
* 5+ year experience in mine geology (Underground and/or Open Pit) with Senior experience desirable.
* Strong background in resource modelling, grade control, and geological mapping.
* Proficiency in geological modelling software and GIS tools.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities within cross-functional mining teams.
* Able to pass a Pre-Employment medical, National Police Clearance, and Drug and Alcohol screen.
