The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join the brilliant executive team of one of Australia's fastest growing start-ups. Founded less than 6 years ago, the company is continuing to execute on its bold growth strategy.
A portfolio company of some of the leading VC groups in the country, they are well funded with a clear mandate for rapid future growth.
Deal-making, capital management, commercial negotiations, business development and customer engagement will all be core activities concurrent with the usual financial responsibilities of a traditional Chief Financial Officer.
The Challenge
This is an ideal role for an outstanding finance executive who wants to play a part in shaping the future direction of the business. The role will be challenging and exciting as you are overseeing the routine of the finance function while also being directly involved in complex commercial matters and the strategic direction of the business.
Partnering with the CEO, the ELT and the VC groups, your responsibilities will include:
* Ensuring the preparation of timely financial and management reports for the company
* Planning and directing the company's strategic long term financial goals while evaluating existing plans
* Partnering with the ELT on all treasury, financing and debt management strategies for the company
* Creating and maintaining an effective management performance framework for the company
* Conduct commercial reviews and financial analysis of key business opportunities and strategic projects
* Analyse business performance data, identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for cost reduction and recommend process improvements to enhance outcomes
* Support the business in pricing strategy, including major customer contracts and re-tenders, ensuring a rigorous approach to pricing decisions and margin optimisation
* Developing and maintaining dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics
* Coordinating all tax, audit matters and reporting matters
* Taking a lead role in driving improvements in systems and processes throughout the company
The Expertise
It is a given that you will be a top tier finance executive with a proven background in finance as a CFO or 2IC to a CFO in a commercial finance, strategy or corporate development leadership role. Further:
* You began your career in investment banking, management consulting or with PwC, Deloitte, EY or KPMG
* You have sector specific experience in technology and infrastructure, utilities or industrial
* You have significant experience managing a broad set of stakeholders, including dealing with boards and shareholders. Track record partnering with PE/VC owners is preferable
* You have exposure to international markets – ideally the US and Europe
* You are highly analytical and outcomes oriented. You are capable and willing to roll up your sleeves and get things done in a fast-paced, lean environment
