Technical Manager for Iron & Steelmaking Projects (f/m/*)
What are my responsibilities?
Our department I&S PM (Iron & Steelmaking) is responsible for the project execution of the Iron and Steelmaking*) business.
We provide highest project management expertise and are responsible for the execution from contract award till closure of the project with the mission to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.
For the execution of our projects, we are strengthening our team with a Technical Manager. In this role you ensure that the required plant equipment will be ordered, manufactured, and delivered as per schedule, with the specified quality and within the given budget.
You are a member of the project core team and act as the interface between the project and the purchasing department. A close cooperation with the Project Manager and other team members is fundamental to success.
The following tasks are key for the job:
1. You analyze the technical documents (e.g. manufacturing standards) and the commercial terms (e.g. packing and logistic conditions) as given in the customer contract relevant for your equipment.
2. You prepare project-related tender documents for your equipment in coordination with the engineering and technology department.
3. You ensure that the tender documents are issued in time to potential suppliers for preparing their bids.
4. You select the best supplier under consideration of the project requirements in close cooperation with the purchasing department and the project management.
5. You closely track the suppliers progress, ensure that the right expediting & quality activities are conducted and initiate mitigation measures where necessary.
6. You involve the logistic department to ensure timely shipment of your equipment to the building site.
7. You coordinate the preparation of customer documentation for quality, delivery, erection, commissioning, and maintenance.
8. You support the site team for erection and commissioning issues.
9. You actively contribute to claim management for your equipment, in close coordination with purchasing department.
10. You contribute in the project closure and lessons learned.
*) Iron and Steelmaking combines the businesses for Agglomeration, Blast Furnace Ironmaking, Direct and Smelting Reduction, Converter Steelmaking, Electric Steelmaking and Environmental Solutions.
What do I need to qualify for this job?
11. Technical education (e.g. mechanical engineering, industrial engineering)
12. Professional experience in adequate technical functions (e.g. technology, engineering, installation) is of advantage
13. Basic knowledge in project management methods and tools, know-how of contract law and regulations for project business
14. Work experience in international teams preferred
15. Willingness for international travels and for site delegations
16. Advanced knowledge in English and German

What else do I need to know?
The minimum annual gross salary for this position under the collective agreement and assuming that all requirements are met is EUR 44.908,22 (E/00). This could rise considerably, depending on qualifications and experience.
