Your role within the team
This role will lead the Product Development of our Pet Nutrition & Care (PNC) portfolio for ANZ and Asia as well as Project manage the pipeline of projects planned for PNC. While the role reports through the PD team, they will also have a very strong link back into our PMO team.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Lead the product development for the ANZ/Asia Pet Nutrition & Care NPD pipeline.
2. Represent the PMO as Project Manager for the PNC portfolio.
3. Collaborate with our Marketing and Science teams to generate new concepts for our PNC NPD pipeline.
4. In conjunction with Quality, investigate product challenges and provide recommendations for next steps.
5. Set a clear strategy on how to deliver the project at a timeline that meets both the consumer and business needs.
6. Responsible for tracking progress on a weekly and monthly basis with each of the cross functional project team; reporting and presenting on project status to the broader business.
7. Motivate people involved in the project to complete tasks on time.
8. Identifying and manage potential risks and liabilities of multiple projects.
9. Serve as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy.
10. Communicate with executives or leaders to keep the project aligned with overall business strategy.
Desired Skills & Experience
1. Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Product Development of Pet foods/treats/supplements or similar.
2. Understanding of the Pet food or APVMA regulatory environments.
3. Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
4. Exposure to project stage gate process (or similar) ideally would have project managed projects directly, including managing cross functional teams.
5. Experience developing a range of products or formulations from concept to launch.
6. Has worked across different regulatory environments and understands how to interpret the regulations to design compliant products.
7. Strong understanding or interest in the AsiaPac Pet industry. Viewed from both a commercial and technical product perspective.
8. Experience with product assessments such as palatability evaluation, analytical testing and stability protocols.
9. Experience creating detailed technical briefs/product formulation briefs.
10. Ability to critically evaluate raw materials and experience assessing specifications and samples for suitability of use.
11. Experience sharing information to cross-functional teams in a meaningful format that makes technical detail easy to understand.
12. Familiar with processes such as change control and document control.
13. Experience working with contract manufacturers and ingredient suppliers.
14. Thorough understanding of the commercialisation processes of product development.
15. Strong reporting skills of project status, timing and financial impacts as well as risk assessment.
16. Involvement in creating processes and improving existing ones.
