Carers Australia enriches the lives of carers through the creation of a carer-led national policy which shapes social change and a strong carer economy.We collaborate, we stand up and we know our stuff.Sadly, our amazingly talented National Director Communications is leaving us to return to the UK.We are now looking for a motivated, talented and experienced National Director Communications to join our team.As the National Director Communications, you will:Lead and manage a small team to support Carers Australia in meeting communications commitments and roll-out of key communications initiatives, encompassing strategy, media, public relations, social media and creative, publications and content development for a range of digital and traditional channels.Build on the Communications Framework to develop and implement a communications strategy, plans and activities that address the needs of carers including culturally and linguistically diverse audiences and indigenous carers, and evaluate effectiveness.Set a narrative approach for the organisation through strategic media, public relations and community issues management to support its reputation and public position.Support the CEO in monitoring and reporting on public, organisational or societal issues that could impact the organisation or carers and in identifying proactive public relations opportunities to strongly engage with stakeholders and escalate the issues facing carers.Oversee all communications undertaken by Carers Australia, to ensure brand consistency across all digital channels (e.g. website, blogs and social media) and provide reports to the CEO on the impact of digital communications.Coordinate the continuous improvement of content on the organisation’s digital platforms, including governance, information integrity and content publishing processes and procedures.The ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate strong experience in the following:Communication management: Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, e.g. marketing, public relations or communications or other related qualification and minimum five (5) years’ experience in a similar role; has sound knowledge of communication systems and processes, including the design, management and execution of corporate communication strategies and budgets; uses historical, political and broader context to inform communication direction and mitigate risk; obtains key stakeholder commitment to major communication strategies; communication risks are effectively managed and appropriate strategies are in place to respond to variances.Expertise and academic credibility in communication (and digital) analysis: credibility and influence (externally and internally) through depth and breadth of communications expertise; the ability to give professional support and direction to others; seek, review and apply best practice to communications and digital management.Leadership and vision: builds team commitment by demonstrating personal conviction; sound understanding of Carers Australia’s strategic agenda and able to translate organisational strategy into meaningful long-term plans and objectives for own area of responsibility; motivates others to deliver against goals.Deliver results: achieves results through the efficient use of resources and a commitment to quality outcomes; uses own professional knowledge and the expertise of others to drive forward organisational objectives; creates a culture of achievement, fostering on-time and on-budget quality outcomes in the organisation; identifies, recognises and celebrates success.Organisational awareness: understands and addresses underlying problems, opportunities or external forces affecting the organisation; uses strategic relationships and knowledge to predict and prepare for the impact of events on the organisation; understands the impact of external events and changing stakeholder needs on the organisation and government.Strategic thinking and planning: inspires a sense of purpose and direction within the communications and digital context; understands the organisation’s current and future role; considers the ramifications of issues and long-term impact of work being done.We offer a competitive salary of $130,000 per annum, plus superannuation, plus salary packaging.To find out more about this exciting opportunity, contact Annabel Reid, CEO - 0408 112815.Apply via Seek - send us your CV and a letter addressing the key capabilities listed above.Applications need to be received by 5:00pm AEDT Monday 27 January 2025.Applications received from recruiters will not be accepted.
