Finance Director ANZ – Multinational Pharma Company

Our client, a global leader in healthcare, is seeking a Finance Director ANZ to drive financial excellence and business strategy across Australia and New Zealand.
The Opportunity:
As the Finance Director ANZ, you will report to the Regional Finance Director, APAC, and play a critical role in shaping the financial strategy for the ANZ region. Leading a small team of finance professionals and working closely with shared services and CoE globally, you will be responsible for all commercial finance matters, ensuring robust financial planning, compliance, and business partnering with senior commercial leaders.

Key Responsibilities:
Controllership & Compliance
* Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting per US GAAP, local statutory standards, and regulatory requirements in Australia and New Zealand.
* Maintain a strong internal control environment, including SOX compliance.
* Lead internal and external audits and coordinate finance processes across teams.
* Represent ANZ in senior finance and business reviews.
* Optimize resources through effective working capital management.
* Fulfill Company Director and Secretary responsibilities for ANZ legal entities.
Financial Planning & Analysis
* Ensure accuracy and timeliness of the annual Operating Plan, forecasts, and financial submissions.
* Represent ANZ in business and operating plan reviews.
* Provide ad hoc financial analysis and insights.
Taxation
* Ensure compliance with local tax laws and timely financial reporting for ANZ.
* Collaborate with tax experts for reviews and audits.
* Act as Public Officer for the Australian Tax Office and key contact for New Zealand’s Inland Revenue.
Business Partnering
* Advise senior leadership on financial and strategic decisions.
* Track and report business performance, identifying key opportunities and risks.
* Drive resource efficiency and support major change initiatives, including business development, system migrations, and financial transformations.
* Provide financial education for non-finance colleagues.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, digital, business development, and HR.
People Management
* Lead and develop the ANZ finance team, including the Financial Controller and Tax Manager.
* Recruit, train, and retain finance professionals.
* Conduct performance reviews, talent planning, and career development for team members.
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven Leadership in Commercial Finance: 15+ years of post-qualification experience, with strong strategic thinking skills.
* Strong Analytical and Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights.
* Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
* Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of financial planning, accounting, tax, treasury, and compliance (US GAAP and local statutory requirements).
* People Leadership: Experience leading and developing finance teams.
* Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics. CPA, CA, or equivalent qualification required. An MBA is a plus.
* Systems Knowledge: Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; SAP experience preferred.
* Industry Experience: Prior experience in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, manufacturing, life science, distribution or similar is preferred.
