Retail Shop Manager - Norwood Vinnies Shop

Full-Time Permanent Position – 76 hours per fortnight, working Monday to Thursday and Sundays.
The St Vincent de Paul Society (SA) Inc (Vinnies) is seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Shop Manager to join our Norwood team. If you're passionate about retail, have a heart for service, and enjoy making a positive impact, this is the role for you!
In this role, you’ll help alleviate poverty and hardship across South Australia by ensuring the smooth operation of our store, delivering exceptional customer service, and creating a welcoming environment for all. As the Retail Shop Manager, you will lead a team of staff and volunteers to achieve sales objectives and foster a positive customer experience. Your responsibilities will include overseeing all aspects of shop operations, team management, inventory control, and ensuring compliance with organisational policies and procedures.

The St Vincent de Paul Society (SA) Inc (The Society) is a major international charitable and voluntary organisation that has been operating in South Australia since 1884. Our principal role is to provide for or alleviate the needs of disadvantaged people in the community. The Society is committed to addressing poverty and hardship through direct support and advocacy.
In South Australia, The Society has over 2,500 members and volunteers, 140 employees, 35 shops, 10 Fred’s Van locations, a Refugee and Asylum Seeker Service, and both Men’s and Women’s Crisis Centres. Our local member networks, known as Conferences, are active in over 56 communities across the state.
Together, we are all playing our part to create positive change. Our retail network is essential in this mission, as it raises crucial funds that allow us to provide these vital services and assistance to those in need.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead, train and motivate a team of staff and volunteers to meet sales objectives, ensuring that financial targets are met to fund the Society's charitable services and initiatives.
2. Ensure exceptional customer service.
3. Oversee daily operations, including sorting donations, pricing, inventory management, and compliance with WHS guidelines.
4. Develop and implement effective visual merchandising strategies.
5. Manage sales and expenditures to meet budget targets.
6. Ensure adherence to the Society’s policies and procedures.
7. Handle administrative tasks and reporting obligations.
8. Perform store opening and closing procedures, including associated duties.
About You:
You bring a positive, can-do attitude and thrive in a team-oriented, hands-on environment. We’re looking for someone who is a collaborative team player and an inspiring people leader with a proven ability to motivate and guide others. You should have:
1. Proven success in managing retail stores and meeting financial targets
2. Strong people management skills, with experience leading and developing diverse teams
3. Experience supervising and supporting volunteers (preferable)
4. Retail fashion experience and an eye for styling and merchandising
5. Strong communication and customer service skills
6. Alignment with Vinnies’ values and mission to make a community impact
7. A Certificate III in Retail or similar qualification (desirable)
8. Experience in not-for-profit organisations (a plus)
Special Conditions:
1. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory National Police Checks and pre-employment health checks.
2. Weekend work as required, currently this position is rostered on Sunday’s.
3. The Retail Shop Manager position is physically demanding, requiring lifting, standing for long periods, and other tasks.
4. A valid driver’s Licence (Class C) is preferred.
