Introduction

Background
Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has had an operational presence in Nigeria since 2015. DRC Nigeria is the largest DRC country mission in the West Africa region and one of the largest globally, delivering life-saving assistance and protection to vulnerable populations.
Purpose
The EMAP Assistant will be responsible for the supervision of Protection activities and team on his/her axis of responsibility, including the management and direct supervision of Protection assistants, representation at local coordination meetings, and drafting Protection Monitoring and activity reports.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Ensure the organization and implementation of all protection activities at field level.
* Manage field protection incentive workers.
* Prepare necessary activity and protection reports.
* Conduct needs and programmatic assessments.
* Identify and intervene on protection cases.
* Refer protection cases to partner agencies.
* Ensure documentation of protection activities in Kobo.
* Engage with communities on human rights and protection topics.
* Train community members and partner staff on protection topics.
* Identify protection trends for action planning.
* Conduct advocacy and sensitization activities.
* Represent DRC protection in partner discussions.
* Conduct community meetings and direct community activities.
* Document all protection activities on Kobo.
* Manage DRC protection assets.
* Liaise with security officers on field base security.
* Support protection coordinator with itinerary planning.
* Provide updates of activities within your designated field site.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in relevant fields.
* Two (2) years work experience in a humanitarian organization.
* Knowledge of protection norms and principles.
Desirable:
* Excellent communication skills.
* Professional fluency in English; knowledge of Hausa or Kanuri is an advantage.
* Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
* Good facilitation skills and experience in training.
General Regulations
* Follow DRC instructions on safety and ethical guidelines.
* Do not engage in other paid activities without prior authorization.
* Do not harm DRC or project implementation.
* Do not give media interviews or publish project-related materials without authorization.
* Return all borrowed equipment after the contract period.
