The Utilities Facilities Delivery team is responsible for the project management and construction of capital works for the City’s sewage treatment plant (STP) projects including new/update and renewals. This consists of constructing new bioreactors, clarifiers, primary treatment facilities, switchboard and blower buildings, and all associated civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and controls works across four STPs.
About your new role
The role is a significant contributor to managing our collaborative partnership, ensuring all design, construction and commissioning activities are implemented in accordance with the City's project management and contract management requirements.
This is an exciting career opportunity for a person with an engineering background to:
* Manage a high-performing team of Senior Project Engineers, Managers and Principal’s Design Partners to support the successful delivery of the project.
* Ensure the works are designed and constructed in accordance with state safety and environmental legislation.
* Ensure the works are designed and constructed in accordance with the project specifications and the approved business case to ensure high-quality outcomes are achieved.
* Ensure all key stakeholders are consulted during the project lifecycle including the presentation of accurate design and construction status reporting, forecasting expenditure and timelines.
* Manage delivery and contribute to the overall success of the IDP including that the partnership runs efficiently and effectively, achieving beneficial outcomes for all parties.
* Manage and control all commercial and contractual matters in accordance with the construction framework agreement.
About the opportunity
Council recently endorsed the teams’ Infrastructure Delivery Program (IDP) which involves multiple Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrades through a long-term collaborative arrangement. The total value of the program is in excess of $955 million over 7-10 years and will concentrate on the establishment of new plants on existing sites to increase capacity and capability to our ever-expanding City.
The City is looking for an experienced professional to lead a team of highly skilled Senior Project Managers and Senior Engineers through to the completion of this program.
This opportunity is a 4-year fixed term arrangement commencing in March 2025. The position is a reclassified Alternative Employment Agreement (AEA) and is commensurate with working a 10-day fortnight. Remuneration will be discussed with the incoming candidate based on alignment of skills, knowledge and experience.
We're looking for people who have:
You will have a minimum 10 years delivering multidiscipline projects including minimum 5 years within the municipal water industry.
The following personal and technical attributes are desirable for this role:
* Bachelor Degree of Engineering (Mandatory)
* Qualifications in Project Management or Leadership and Management, or equivalent knowledge (Mandatory)
* Drivers licence unrestricted (Mandatory)
* General construction induction white card
* The ability to motivate and empower a team to achieve key business outcomes.
* Deliver a high-quality service to internal and external customers.
* Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including mediation, negotiation, conflict resolution and the ability to influence outcomes.
* A positive attitude in an environment of competing priorities.
* A natural affinity for problem solving, critical thinking and proactive in gathering information, analysing data and identifying suitable solutions.
