JOB DESCRIPTION: Diesel Generator Technician
Dean Fluor is looking for a Diesel Generator Technician to join our maintenance team working at a state of the art mission critical government data center. The technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing generator sets. Duties include troubleshooting issues relating to the generator's electrical and mechanical systems through diagnostic tests, performing site testing and engine servicing, conducting preventative maintenance, and ensuring all work complies with health and safety protocols. The technician is responsible for ensuring that the generators are available for emergency operations 24/7. The diesel generator technician serves as an expert technical resource reporting to the maintenance supervisor.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Run load bank tests on diesel generators.
2. Change filters, oil, coolant, and perform standard service on units.
3. Maintain equipment operation by completing inspections, preventive maintenance requirements, correcting deficiencies, keeping records, diagnosing electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
4. Determine equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts, and general troubleshooting.
5. Complete preventive maintenance schedules, install components, parts upgrades, correct deficiencies, maintain appearance, and keep records of time by task.
6. Diagnose and repair any issues found during testing.
7. Assist with other duties as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
1. We are looking for an industrial diesel engine mechanic with at least 3 years of experience.
2. In-depth understanding of diesel engine technology is required.
3. Experience working with large industrial diesel engines and related equipment is required.
4. Ideal candidates will have 3 years of experience working with Caterpillar.
5. Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues on large commercial and industrial diesel engines.
6. Exceptional communication skills and team player mentality.
7. Willing to work overtime as necessary to complete tasks.
8. Ability to read and comprehend work orders, equipment/tool manuals, safety manuals, and other printed and/or written material as it relates to the job.
9. Ability to input information into computerized maintenance and time keeping databases.
10. Ability to work in confined spaces, at elevations, on ladders, and on lift equipment over six feet above the ground.
11. Must carry a two-way radio when on duty to enable prompt emergency response.
12. Must have a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation to and from the job site.
13. Must conform to all city, state and federal licensing and certification requirements.
14. Must comply with all company policies and procedures and adhere to company standards.
15. Must be a team player committed to working in a quality environment.
16. Requires excellent verbal, written, multi-tasking and presentation skills in English.
17. Ability to organize and prioritize workload with minimal supervision.
18. Ability to stand for long hours and lift heavy loads of 50lbs.
19. Must perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as requested.
20. Must be able to achieve and maintain TS/SCI security clearance.
