IT Manager Job Description
The Red Bull Athlete Performance Center (APC) is an athlete accelerator that supports world-class athletes to maximize their individual potential within a innovative environment and with a powerful global network of specialists.
We are searching for an IT Manager who will design and build a sports data platform and athlete applications, drive program- and project management services, and lead our existing IT team as a people manager.
Main Responsibilities:
* Design and build Sports Data Platform & Data Products: Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of sports data platform and data products, introduce data engineering capabilities to support various departments in the Red Bull sports projects with the IT team.
* Manage the underlying technology stack, including data pipelines and ETL processes with the IT team, ensure compliance with pertinent data protection regulations and industry standards by implementing policies and procedures aimed at safeguarding sensitive information and mitigating cybersecurity risks.
* Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify vulnerabilities.
Athlete Performance Data Applications (APHub):
* Define technical vision and IT architecture of APHub.
* Establish technical product life cycle management incl. IT support and operations.
* Establish and steer engineering & software development.
* Steer and supervise projects in this area.
Program and Project Management:
* Manage major IT projects and programs from ideation to implementation, ensuring alignment with business goals.
* Develop project organizations and communication plans, facilitating regular update meetings and steering committee sessions.
* Prepare approval and funding documents, monitor project progress, and ensure timely delivery within budgetary constraints.
* Execute and deliver projects in scope, in time, and in budget.
Defining IT Direction:
* Define, align, and implement the company's IT approach, aligning IT strategy with business objectives and performance data engineering activities.
* Shape the role of IT within the organization, seeking efficiencies to enhance customer satisfaction and drive organizational success.
* Ensure efficient resource utilization and alignment of IT resources with business priorities.
Managing IT Department:
* Supervise IT staff, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
* Plan and manage local IT budgets, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
* Implement IT standards and guidelines, ensuring operational excellence in project delivery and IT support.
* Manage IT-related risks and ensure compliance with IT security protocols and data protection regulations.
* Drive and align the selection of IT vendors and tools based on global IT best practices.
* Oversee relationships with local IT vendors and partners, ensuring effective collaboration and service delivery.
* Provide regular reporting on IT activities, performance metrics, and key achievements.
Required Skills and Experience:
1. Education: Degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
2. Proven experience (7 years) in overseeing IT infrastructure, applications, and data systems, preferably in a sports performance or high-performance environment.
3. Broad understanding of IT infrastructure and application services.
4. Proficiency in IT management, including budgeting and vendor control.
5. Experience in developing and implementing IT strategies and roadmaps.
6. Familiarity with data engineering concepts, including analytics platforms and data pipelines.
7. Sound understanding of company functions and culture, particularly within the sports performance domain.
8. Strong customer focus and interpersonal skills.
9. Ability to communicate complex technical matters effectively.
10. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
11. Result-oriented mindset with a proactive approach.
12. Proficiency in both German and English language.
