This role will operate across two distinct and complementary workstreams: Enterprise Innovation and Venture Development. The successful candidate will have the ability to navigate between these two areas as the innovation unit’s strategy and resourcing evolves over time.In the Enterprise Innovation workstream, you will focus on core business digital innovation, functioning as an enabler, facilitator, and thought leader. You will engage the organization to collaboratively identify opportunities that expedite bottom-line optimization through existing implementation channels.In the Venture Development workstream, you will join the digital innovation lab functioning as a proving ground for adjacent and opportunistically transformational digital innovations. A rigorous de-risking and validation process will be critical, with a high appetite for trustworthy data. You will independently explore and pursue future top-line growth opportunities today.Key Responsibilities:Enterprise Innovation:Engage the core business to facilitate innovation that supports immediate strategic priorities that will drive value within 6-12 months.Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities that optimize existing operations, ensuring integration into existing implementation channels.Provide consultative support in knowledge and education, hosting workshops and events while managing governance and balancing innovation portfolios.Venture Development:Conduct internal and external customer discovery and validation, targeting opportunities that will drive value for Borealis within 1–3 years.Understand, develop, and test opportunities for new top-line digital market expansion and growth.Engage with subject matter experts across the business to upskill yourself, operating independently to identify and validate novel opportunities.About youAt least 8 years of experience in corporate innovation, innovation consulting, strategy, and/or venture development, with a generalist understanding of business fundamentals.Proficiency in applying more than one innovation framework, with expertise in at least one, such as lean startup, human-centered design, technology scouting, internal/external programs (crowdsourcing challenges, open innovation), and strategic partnerships (academic, technical, industry).Experience managing competing priorities and governance channels across a mixed innovation portfolio and ecosystem model.Excellent communication, relationship building, and stakeholder management, able to navigate complex corporate environments while operating independently.Ideally: Experience in an industrial manufacturing setting and/or an understanding of industrial processes where digital technologies can drive benefit.This role offers a unique opportunity to work across different layers of the portfolio innovation spectrum, shaping the future of digital innovation to make it real at Borealis.
