The mission of UNIDO is to promote and accelerate inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) in Member States. The relevance of ISID as an integrated approach to all three pillars of sustainable development is recognized by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). UNIDO’s mandate is fully recognized in SDG-9, which calls to “Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation”. The relevance of ISID applies in greater or lesser extent to all SDGs. Accordingly, the Organization’s programmatic focus is structured in four strategic priorities: Creating shared prosperity; Advancing economic competitiveness; Safeguarding the environment; and Strengthening knowledge and institutions.The Directorate of SDG Innovation and Economic Transformation (IET) is responsible for the development of innovative UNIDO services in the areas of agro-industry and agribusiness, sustainability standards and fair production, and climate-relevant or climate-improving technologies. It is also responsible for developing innovative technical cooperation concepts, identifying new sources and means of finance and entering into new partnerships with a broad range of relevant stakeholders.The position is located under the Division of Public Private Partnerships (IET/PPP) which promotes strategic partnerships to increase the impact potential of UNIDO projects, PCPs and CPs and regional and global cooperation programmes. Such partners would include private sector associations, individual firms, think tanks, development agencies and financing partners. It designs, negotiates and coordinates partnerships with global initiatives, fora and developmental partners engaged in sustainable industrial development.The Associate Programme Officer works under the overall guidance of the Chief of the Division of Public Private Partnerships, in close collaboration with colleagues to support the mandate of the Division to promote strategic partnerships to increase the impact potential of UNIDO projects and programmes.At the P2 level, the incumbent is expected to deliver: (a) work that is analytical in contributing to results achieved by the Division; (b) in creating an enabling environment for collaborative work which is catalytic to achieving results; (c) in building relationships which contributes to counterparts’ engagement and (d) in achieving results that provide baselines for a service. The measure of success is timely, consistent and appropriate delivery of results.The UNIDO Staff Performance Management System reinforces the collaboration within formal units as well as among cross-functional teams. In this context, the incumbent collaborates with his/her supervisor and colleagues, within as well as outside the division. Within the formal teams, the incumbent may be expected to backstop other team members as required.Staff members are subject to the authority of the Director-General and in this context all staff are expected to serve in any assignment and duty station as determined by the needs of the Organization.Main ResponsibilitiesAs a team-leader or member, whether on a divisional, cross-functional or cross sectoral level, the incumbent shall carry out the following generic activities to achieve the results of the Division and the outcomes of Directorate:Develop and operationalize a data-driven partnership management tool: Participate in the development, integration and management of a robust CRM solution to serve as a real-time knowledge sharing and decision-making tool.Develop new business models for the engagement with technology leaders: In close collaboration with COR/DIT, scale-up partnerships with technology leaders to harness digital innovation and co-create impactful projects that drive industrial transformation.Integrated Partnership Approaches in UNIDO: Contribute to the establishment and refinement of partnership modalities and mechanisms, assist in the development of partnership instruments, and serve as a knowledge source on partnerships within the organization.Member State Engagement via Private Sector: Assist in developing strategies to strengthen relations with Member States through private sector cooperation.Global Forum Function: Assist in the preparation for UNIDO’s global forum activities and in their running.
