The position Mining large datasets for cancer biomarkers and drug targets has developed into a key aspect in drug discovery. The application of innovative data integration strategies is needed for this task. Using patient datasets and computational methods cancer targets and biomarkers will be identified in the framework of this Master thesis project. The work will be part of a larger project within the group of the Cancer Cell Signaling Department in Vienna. The internship position (10 months duration) should start ideally as soon as possible. Tasks & responsibilities Mining and annotation of large cancer patient and cell line datasets Establishment and usage of computational methods to identify cancer drug targets, biomarkers, and combinations thereof Documentation of results, analysis scripts and pipelines using Atlassian tools such as Bitbucket Presentation of results within the Department Requirements BSc Degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related field with first experience in Bioinformatics Hands-on experience with programming languages such as R and Python First experience with command line programming and experience in using Atlassian stack/Bitbucket or Github is a plus Precise and reproducible work- and documentation-style Fluent in English and good communication skills Your Benefits Flexible working time models/home office depending on the position Additional off-days (bridge-days) for more leisure time Staff restaurant with a variety of lunch options for your daily well-being Position specific training opportunities for your personal and professional growth Comprehensive health promotion, sustaining your health in the best possible way The minimum gross annual salary according to the collective bargaining agreement for this position is EUR 38.160,22 (full time), although the actual salary is based on your technical skills and personal competencies as well as your professional experience.
