St. George’s College, founded in 1931, is the premier residential college at the University of Western Australia. It has approximately 270 residents. They are supported by the College’s academic, cultural, sporting and leadership programs, which enrich the lives of its residents and provide them with opportunities and experiences in an encouraging and well-managed environment.
The College Music Program delivers a successful, high-quality concert and events series with a strong element of classical music, focused largely on the development of young people in the Arts.
The Director of Music/Program Manager: Music will work collaboratively as a member of the College Administration Team. The role will report to the Warden and Chief Operating Officer.
The hours are flexible. Free on-site parking, meals when working on-site, and UWA gym membership are included as employment benefits.
Responsibilities:
1. Creative leadership and development of the Music Program
2. Budgeting and contribution to the preparation of the College budget
3. Preparing reports for the Music Committee and College Board
4. Managing venues, resources and events and liaising with artists and contractors
5. Marketing of the Music Program and events at College and elsewhere
6. Directing College ensembles and developing musical opportunities for residents
To be considered for this role you will demonstrate:
1. A passion for music and a high level of musical proficiency
2. Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
3. Strong initiative, organisational, time management and project management skills
4. Ability to manage and motivate others and work collaboratively as part of a team
5. Experience in co-ordinating high quality concert programs and in the organisation and administration of concerts
6. Experience in successfully managing budgets
7. Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software
8. Experience in directing choirs (desirable but not essential)
