The role of Head of Lab Coordination, Component Lab & IEC Standardization offers a unique blend of strategic governance, innovation, and global influence in a dynamic and evolving lighting industry. You will establish and maintain a global governance structure for laboratory operations across multiple international sites, lead a team of 4 direct reports dedicated to the Component Lab, lab projects, and technical external standardization, and represent the Zumtobel Group’s Lighting Brands in several electrotechnical committees.
Key responsibilities
1. Governance over global Lighting Laboratories spanning locations in Austria, Germany, France, UK, Serbia and China, ensuring alignment in processes, quality assurance, and equipment standards.
2. Lead the Components Lab in Dornbirn, and ensuring operational excellence and continuous improvement in processes and technologies.
3. Represent the Zumtobel Lighting Brands in international electrotechnical committees, actively participating in standardization efforts (e.g., IEC, LUMEX) to shape the future of lighting technologies.
4. Drive continuous improvement in laboratory processes, focusing on certifications, precise measurements, and compliance with applicable industry standards.
5. Ensure effective operation and further development of laboratory management software (LMS) and relevant databases, guaranteeing accurate measurements as the foundation for certifications such as CE.
6. Harmonize laboratory ecosystems, balancing technology, commercial considerations, and regulatory requirements across global locations.
7. Provide information and training to lab employees on new or updated standards, ensuring all teams are aligned with the latest industry developments.

What we are looking for
8. Strong technical background in electrical or electromechanical engineering and hands-on experience in laboratory operations.
9. Proven expertise in standardization work and regulatory processes, including norms, certifications, and quality assurance.
10. Strong commitment to continuous improvement in laboratory environments, with a focus on optimizing processes and ensuring accuracy.
11. Experience working in committees or industry groups, with excellent communication and negotiation skills to represent and advocate for the company's interests.
12. Open-minded, with a leadership style that promotes a culture of feedback and collaboration within teams.
13. Fluency in written and spoken English. Proficiency in German is a plus.

Legally binding notice: Based on the minimum salary stipulated in the collective agreement of € 64.734,18 p.a. (for a 38,50-hour working week), the actual salary for this position is based on professional qualifications and experience.
