Role Overview:
As the Head Barista at our Armadale cafe, you will play a key role in overseeing daily operations and leading a barista team of 4, with oversight of the floor staff. You will work closely with a full-time store manager to ensure smooth operations, maintain high standards of coffee quality, customer service, and team performance, as well as manage stock, opening and closing procedures, and shift supervision. Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and Supervise: Manage and support a team of 4-5 baristas and front-of-house staff per shift, ensuring smooth operations and high levels of service.
* Collaboration with Store Manager: Work alongside the full-time store manager to ensure operational success and maintain alignment with business goals and standards.
* Coffee Quality: Oversee the preparation of high-quality coffee beverages, maintaining consistency, and sharing expertise to ensure the best possible product for our customers.
* Customer Experience: Foster a welcoming environment in the community-focused vibe of our Armadale location. Engage with customers to ensure they feel valued and part of our community.
* Stock Management: Ensure timely and accurate stock control and inventory management, including ordering and receiving deliveries, maintaining stock levels, and minimizing waste.
* Opening and Closing the Store: Be responsible for opening and closing procedures, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently, and the store is secure at the end of the day.
* End-of-Day Till Management: Oversee end-of-day cash reconciliation and till management, ensuring all transactions are accurate and ready for the following day.
* Team Development: Provide guidance and training to baristas and front-of-house staff, helping them develop their skills and ensuring excellent performance.
* Health and Safety: Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring adherence to food safety and workplace hygiene standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Proven experience as a barista, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
* Strong knowledge of coffee preparation, machine operation, and maintenance.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with customers and manage a team effectively.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive, upbeat attitude.
* Strong organisational and time-management skills, with an eye for detail.
* Previous experience with stock management, cash handling, and shift supervision is a plus.
