Production Manager in Modular Construction

About You
You are a hands-on leader with a trade background and experience in modular construction, manufacturing, or a related industry. You understand the complexities of production workflows, team management, and quality control, ensuring operational success while encouraging a collaborative and results-driven culture.
* Experience in a similar management role within manufacturing, construction, or modular building.
* Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead from the front.
* Proven ability to optimise production processes while ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
* Trade-qualified professional, with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
* Proficient in Microsoft 365; AutoCAD experience is an advantage.
* Forklift license preferred (or willingness to obtain).
* Strong knowledge of workplace health & safety regulations.
* A systematic, structured approach with the ability to work under pressure and troubleshoot production challenges.
Your New Role
As Production Manager, you will be responsible for the smooth and efficient running of TransBuild’s manufacturing operations, overseeing production schedules, quality control, logistics, and team coordination. You will work closely with an established and close-knit team of 4 factory members, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery, high safety standards, and continuous process improvements.
The salary range for this role is between $110,000 and $130,000.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Operational Excellence
Ensure seamless factory operations, production efficiency, and high-quality output.
* Establishing improved production management, workflows, inventory levels and production schedules.
* Oversee daily production operations and manage workflow scheduling.
* Implement and monitor operational policies and procedures.
* Track and minimise waste while optimising production efficiency.
* Supervise factory staff and contractors, ensuring quality standards are met.
* Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Troubleshoot production issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
* Provide hands-on support when needed to meet production targets.
* Coordinate storage, handling, and transportation of materials and building modules within the factory yard.
Stakeholder Management
Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to support seamless operations.
* Act as the primary point of contact for operational inquiries.
* Work closely with sales and customer service teams to meet client needs.
* Manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure materials availability.
* Maintain clear and effective communication across the business.
Team Management, Development & Engagement
Lead, develop, and support a motivated and skilled close-knit operational team.
* Recruit, train, and mentor factory staff, ensuring a high-performing team.
* Conduct performance evaluations and implement staff development plans.
* Foster a positive, systemised, and team-oriented culture.
* Lead by example, ensuring diligence, efficiency, and safety-first leadership.
Service Delivery
Ensure high-quality and on-time delivery of products and services.
* Monitor service levels and customer satisfaction to maintain high-quality output.
* Conduct weekly stock audits and implement cost control systems.
* Communicate manufacturing schedules through daily toolbox meetings.
* Maintain a strong safety focus across all production activities.
* Show strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
* Effectively communicating manufacturing schedules cycles and keeping staff and subcontractors updated.
Financial Acumen
Manage production costs, budgeting, and financial performance.
* Develop and monitor operational budgets and forecasts.
* Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement budgetary controls.
* Prepare production manufacturing schedules, budgeting, and forecasting.
* Analyse bills of quantities, material take-offs, and cost breakdowns for project efficiency.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety
Ensure strict adherence to industry regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
* Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures.
* Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to maintain compliance.
* Ensure workplace health & safety regulations are upheld at all times.
* Maintain a commitment to quality control and excellence in workmanship.
