Your role at St John of God Health Care Social Outreach - International Health
St John of God International Health (Timor-Leste) long-term capacity development for health care services in Timor-Leste, The overarching goal of the SJGIH plans is to:
"Improve patient care across Timor-Leste by developing the capacity of Timorese healthcare workers, with the primary focus at HNGV."
As the Leadership and Quality Programs Manager, you will be based in Australia and will have responsibility for working with the Director International Health to support the St John of God International Health (SJGIH) development programs to achieve the commitments and strategic activities as set out in the development program plans relevant to their area of expertise.
The Position
* Provide strategic direction and oversight for all leadership programs and quality programs as outlined in the SJGIH plan.
* Provide expertise in the areas of leadership and quality capacity development of both SJGIH caregivers and program participants.
* Work with relevant stakeholders to ensure the leadership programs and quality programs are aligned with the strategic objectives of the Timorese Ministry of Health and other health development partners.
* Ensures compliance with standards of team practice and professionalism including the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) standards.
* Design, implement, monitor and evaluate both leadership programs and quality programs to achieve stable and sustainable development.
* Using the SJGHC Code of Conduct and Leadership Profile as guides, act as an ambassador for SJGIH programs, and provide leadership to caregivers to uphold the SJGHC Vision, Mission and Values at all times.
* Be aware of and work in accordance with SJGHC policies and procedures and ensure these are available to all direct reporting caregivers.
* Promote a positive Workplace Health Safety and Security culture, which assesses risks, manages health, safety and security incidents and ensures accurate and timely reporting.
* Apply and encourage a capacity strengthening approach to internal and external relationships.
* Work collaboratively with the Director SJGIH, Country Manager and other Program Managers to integrate activities, using the SJGIH 'approach to stable and sustainable development'.
* Work closely with Timorese counterparts to develop systems and processes that will address stable and sustainable development.
* Build effective working relationships, through trust and teamwork, with both Australian and Timor-Leste based caregivers.
* Provide line management oversight, strategic direction, and operational instruction to relevant teams based in Timor-Leste, to deliver the planned program commitments and strategic actions.
* Facilitate caregiver development, including preparing annually reviewed performance development plans, and hold caregivers accountable for meeting performance expectations.
* Oversee the data management functions of the Quality team.
* Monitor issues and lessons learnt using the relevant SJGIH registers, and applying continuous quality improvement principles to maintain program momentum.
* Maintain oversight over team budgets.
You will need to have a tertiary qualification in Nursing and/or Midwifery with eligibility for registration with AHPRA. Additionally, a post-graduate qualification and at least five years of experience in leadership and/or quality roles are essential. Previous experience working in low-resource environments and/or cross-cultural settings will also be highly valued.
To succeed in this role, you will need a proven ability to work effectively with people across cultures to develop capacity. You should also demonstrate experience in leading and contributing to the development of strategic and operational plans, while managing program outputs and outcomes. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Additionally, you must have the ability to work collaboratively within a team to achieve and sustain professional excellence, improve patient care, and drive practice change.
To be considered for this position you will have ability and willingness to undertake travel to Timor-Leste and have a current drivers licence, with the willingness to learn to drive in Timor-Leste. Ability to obtain a WWCC and national police check will also be essential to this position. Additional travel vaccinations may be required for this position.
