Part of the Star Group, Queensland’s largest independent hotel and pub group, we’re a fast-paced, high-energy venue that prides itself on great food, great service, and a great time — every time. We’re now on the hunt for a driven, hands-on Operations Manager to support the Venue Manager and lead our incredible team.
As Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day running of Runcorn Tavern, working closely with the Venue Manager to ensure all aspects of the business are executed to a high standard. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be expected to lead from the front, maintain structure across shifts, support the team to deliver consistent, high-quality service while driving performance outcomes aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Working peak trade periods with a strong floor presence, ensuring efficient service flow and staff coordination.
2. Supporting compliance and regulatory obligations, including RSA, RSG, WH&S, and liquor licensing conditions.
3. Overseeing cash handling procedures, including daily takings, safe counts, float management, and accurate end-of-day balancing.
4. Managing rosters and labour planning in line with budget expectations and operational needs.
5. Stock control, ensuring efficient ordering, usage, and waste minimisation.
6. Maintaining venue presentation and safety standards across all areas, including bars, bistro, and gaming.
7. Training and mentoring junior leaders and frontline staff to ensure they meet performance and service expectations.
Requirements & Qualifications:
1. Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a hospitality management role (within a high-volume venue).
2. Current RMLV and Approved Manager’s License.
3. Valid RSA and RSG certifications.
4. Strong understanding of venue operations, financial performance, and compliance.
5. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
6. Proven ability to lead by example in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
7. Availability to work across a rotating roster including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
