CALL for doctoral researchers to join the EU funded project XR2RESILIENCE
XR2ESILIENCE brings together 12 partners from 5 different countries — Germany, Croatia, Spain, Portugal, and Austria — to develop an extended reality training program for healthcare professionals across Europe. We are looking for a PhD researcher to join our team consisting of experts in psychology, resilience training, patient safety, medicine, engineering, healthcare systems and management, public health, data analysis, and digital biomarkers. The position is based at the Medical University of Graz (MedUni Graz).
Our offer
1. An international, multidisciplinary team working in a pro-active research setting: XR2ESILIENCE has established a collaborative and interdisciplinary research approach that allows doctoral students to develop their dissertation and gain practical and empirical experience working with healthcare professionals, conducting focus group interviews and co-creation sessions, conducting and evaluating XR training sessions and liaising with the Clinical Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapeutic Medicine.
2. Career development and training: PhD candidates will be enrolled at the Medical University of Graz to the study group COGNITION RESEARCH at the Clinical Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapeutic Medicine. Since this is an international project, candidates are strongly encouraged to present their project, thesis, and research at international conferences and consortium meetings, as well as to publish their findings in academic journals.
3. Attractive employment conditions: The PhD candidate will work 75% (30h/week) until the completion of their thesis – for up to three years. The gross salary is in compliance with the collective agreement for employees of EU-funded projects at the MedUni Graz, including social benefits.
Our requirements
Applicants for PhD positions must hold an undergraduate degree equivalent to a Master in any discipline of life sciences. A background in psychology or related fields, along with strong data analysis skills, is preferred. Excellent written and spoken English proficiency is required; good German language skills are advantageous.

The review process starts in April, and the most promising candidates will be invited to virtual interviews in April 2025. Successful candidates will be invited to the official hearing in June, 24–26 June 2025.
