CEU invites applications for a Project Coordinator position on its major new research initiative, ’Why Do Coherent Belief Systems Tolerate Incoherence? Belief Update Failures in Society’, funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). This position is part-time with a fixed-term contract until February 28th, 2028 with the possibility of extension. The project is a collaboration between two departments within CEU (Department of Economy and the Cognitive Science Department) and the Vienna University of Economics and Business, and was approved for FWF’s Special Research Areas funding scheme.
The Project Manager/Dissemination officer will work with the Scientific coordinator, the PI’s of the project and will be supported by the Administrative Coordinator. We are looking for someone who has strategic and analytical thinking, who is proactive, responsible and reliable with strong organizational and problem-solving skills and excellent English and German.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Responsible for the implementation of the research project as outlined in the project proposal, including network management, science dissemination, stakeholder relations, and public engagement.
* Acts as the coordinator and main organizer of activities pertaining to the knowledge transfer and outreach component of the project.
* Supports the work of the Principal Investigators and other members of the scientific team.
* Responsible for the timely fulfillment of project goals.
* Assists the academic team in the preparation of scientific reports and takes part in the preparation of the financial report.
* Manages the project in cooperation with CEU academic and administrative units (communications, procurement, research support, IT, HR) with the help of the Administrative Coordinator.
* Supports the project website and social media communication together with the Administrative Coordinator.
* Performs other administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications
* Relevant previous experience in managing research projects (especially in Austria) is an advantage.
* Proficiency in spoken and written German and English.
* High computer proficiency, especially in the use of MS Word and Excel.
* Ability to multi-task, as well as prioritize conflicting needs while meeting tight deadlines.
* Ability to administer long-term assignments independently as well as in a team.
* Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people of different national and cultural backgrounds, gender and cultural awareness and sensitivity.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills, willing to innovate and take responsibility for organizational matters.
* Well-organized, has strong work ethic and a friendly, positive attitude.
* A genuine interest in the topic of the project is an advantage.
