Our consortium, which includes Plenary, RATP Dev, Siemens, and Webuild, is leveraging metro rail expertise to deliver this city-shaping project under a Public-Private Partnership model, providing significant economic stimulus for Western Sydney.The Role:Reporting to the Project Director, the Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Director will lead the development and execution of strategic communication and engagement initiatives to foster meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This role ensures the successful integration of community and stakeholder needs into project planning and delivery while maintaining transparency and public trust.Benefits:Play a key leadership role in one of the largest infrastructure projects in Western Sydney.Shape stakeholder and community relations on a high-profile, city-transforming project.Competitive remuneration package.Convenient work location for Western Sydney residents.Responsibilities:Stakeholder Engagement Strategy & ManagementDevelop and execute a comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategy aligned with project objectives, ensuring proactive communication and collaboration.Ensure compliance with stakeholder consultation requirements and engagement policies.Monitor stakeholder sentiment and concerns, ensuring feedback is incorporated into decision-making.Provide strategic counsel to project leadership on managing stakeholder expectations and resolving potential conflicts.Community Engagement & Public ConsultationOversee the development of community engagement initiatives to keep local residents and businesses informed and involved in the project.Oversee the planning and execution of public consultation and community information sessions.Address public concerns and implement strategies to minimise project disruptions on local communities.Manage feedback mechanisms to capture and respond to community input effectively.Ensure the project adheres to best practices in public participation and social responsibility.Communications & Crisis ManagementDevelop and oversee communication strategies that enhance the project’s reputation and promote positive engagement.Lead the response to public concerns, media inquiries, and stakeholder issues, ensuring clear and consistent messaging.Establish crisis communication protocols to mitigate risks and handle sensitive issues effectively.Ensure all public statements and engagement materials align with project objectives and government regulations.Event & Campaign ManagementOversee the planning and execution of stakeholder engagement events, including site tours and project briefings.Oversee the production of stakeholder reports, newsletters, and digital content to ensure ongoing engagement.Criteria:Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Community Engagement or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).10+ years of experience in stakeholder engagement and communications (with a background in journalism or public relations), with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.Extensive experience in the management of community engagement and communications on major infrastructure projects.Demonstrable experience in the development and implementation of Community Communication Strategies and plans.Demonstrable experience in and understanding of NSW government and Australia government public affairs processes.Strong expertise in stakeholder consultation, community relations, and public affairs.Proven skills in the preparation of media and other urgent copy.Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.Proven track record of developing and leading large-scale engagement programs.A strategic thinker with a proven track record in media and communications, ideally within government, public sector, or a similarly complex environment.Outstanding leadership abilities, with a focus on building and mentoring high-performing teams.A collaborative approach, with the ability to build strong relationships across internal and external stakeholders.If this opportunity aligns with your expertise and career aspirations, apply now, and our Recruitment Team will be in contact.
