VEEM manufactures marine, defence, transport and mining products, employing over 180 people and operates modern manufacturing facilities in the southern suburbs of Perth. The company’s key products include marine vessel propellers and gyrostabilisers, submarine valves, ride control systems and mining wear pipe. VEEM is the world leader in its field, using the most advanced technology and boasting a global distribution network servicing our customers.
This position is to manage approximately fifty staff in our non-ferrous foundry division (foundry background not essential) consisting of mostly trades, quality staff and the production management staff that supervise them. VEEM operates sophisticated software systems that provide a raft of key performance indicators that enable efficient management of all facets of staff performance and also provides full operational expenditure information and projections.
Work output will involve manufacturing Marine Propellers up to 4m in diameter and components for Defence, Transport and Industrial sectors. This is a large capacity modern foundry with 15 tonne pour capacity, robotic moulding and a metallurgical laboratory.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing facilities, people and systems for this portion of the business.
* Ensuring this portion of the business measures and adjusts by way of KPI’s.
* Taking responsibility for production of fifty staff and the facilities they work in.
* Interfacing with the other production managers.
* Interfacing with the VEEM financial, commercial, quality and engineering divisions.
Key Attributes
* Good understanding of quality and process control.
* Factory Mechanical Production Engineering qualifications or significant experience (Foundry background is not essential).
* A meticulous nature and a consistent management style.
* Ability to deliver clear instructions to a variety of skill levels.
