Program Overview
Engineering, integration, and cybersecurity support to design, build, and test enhanced services for the Navy’s IT architecture. Offers a wide range of roles, from cybersecurity experts to engineers specializing in systems, networks, software, and data center services.
Responsibilities:
1. Review and analyze the existing network architecture and provide designs of current/modern WAN/MAN/LAN technologies.
2. Recommend best practices such as SDN, Intent-based networking, and network segmentation protocols to improve the existing architecture and meet new networking requirements.
3. Design telecommunications circuit specifications.
4. Identify the need for routers, switches, and encryption devices to support enterprise services.
5. Deliver service catalog items for automatically provisioning network configurations to deliver Infrastructure-as-Code.
6. Develop and maintain network architecture specifications and artifacts.
7. Design and plan network communications systems.
8. Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
9. Conduct cost/benefit analysis and provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
10. Conduct testing of network design.
11. Monitor network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options.
12. Plan implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network.
13. Advise network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations.
14. Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
15. Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Qualification Requirements:
1. Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD; 4 years of additional work experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
2. TS/SCI level clearance is required.
3. Minimum 3 years of Cisco experience; proven expertise with Cisco network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, and unified communications equipment.
4. Proven experience in VMware environments.
5. Proven experience in virtual and physical Internet Protocol and Fiber Channel networks and routing protocols.
6. Proven experience designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting LAN, WAN, and low bandwidth networks protected by network encryptors.
7. Information Assurance Certifications consistent with the 8570 IAT Level III.
8. Professional certification in Cisco, VMware, and/or ITIL is desired.
