Purpose of Job and General Duties
As a member of our engineering team, you will develop electronic hardware products for use in rugged automotive and recreational applications. Our products assist our customers in maximising their enjoyment of the great off-roading and camping lifestyle. Our team thrives on providing the best quality products without compromise so that our customers are always thrilled with their experience.
You will participate in all stages of the new product development process, from research and conceptualisation through to mass manufacturing. If power is not your background, but circuit design is second nature – we can teach you.
The job involves:
* Collaborating with other engineers to determine product architecture and hardware/firmware partitioning.
* Estimating effort required for design delivery and adhering to REDARC best practices.
* Designing with version control, bug tracking, and documenting all deliverables, including schematics.
* Re-using proven modules where available and suitable, simulating/prototyping to optimize various aspects of design.
* Facilitating frequent and timely reviews of designs, testing, evaluating, and verifying performance.
* Designing to project plan, communicating effectively with product and project management.
* Ensuring implementation verification against specification and compliance with relevant standards.
* Reading, understanding, and contributing to requirements, driving improvements when meaning is unclear.
* Updating product hardware, developing, and maintaining re-usable designs, and/or test Complying with project directives to ensure products are brought to market on time, fully tested, commercially viable, and compliant with standards.
* Taking responsibility for design correctness, reviewing simulations, designs, and implementations of others, and mentoring staff as required.
* Guiding optimization tasks, displaying independent accomplishments, and challenging established practices.
* Participating in specific projects, applying the company's methodology and project standards.
* Contributing to product and process improvement teams, participating in internal audits, ensuring WHS policies adherence, and undertaking delegated tasks.
Required:
* Associate diploma or degree or higher in electronics engineering (or equivalent field) with at least 5 years’ experience or demonstrated equivalent industry experience.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, including cross-functional teams, while being receptive to learning from experienced colleagues.
* Encompassing comfort with a "hands-on" approach, eagerness to learn, a diverse range of electronics skills, initiative, accuracy in following procedures, and experience in electronic product fault finding.
* Proficiency in MS Office and CAD packages, particularly Altium.
* Self-motivation and adeptness in prioritising their workload.
* Engineering experience in a product development environment.
* Experience in electronic manufacturing processes and quality procedures.
