As the General Manager of Production, you will lead, motivate, and develop the production team leaders across all shifts and locations, working towards achieving cost-effective operational production targets. These targets include production output, resource management, customer fill rates, quality control, and adherence to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards. You will collaborate with the CEO to support long-term initiatives focused on improving production efficiency, implementing OHS programs, refining product injection profiles, enhancing product quality, and making strategic investments across production sites.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage & Monitor Performance: Oversee the overall performance of production operations across multiple sites, ensuring alignment with company goals and performance metrics.
* Lead & Support Team: Develop, motivate, and manage site leads and their teams across shifts. Ensure that production targets, safety standards, and quality requirements are met.
* Drive Safety Culture: Collaborate with the Safety team to cultivate a safety-first culture, minimizing risks and injuries while promoting staff wellbeing.
* Resource & Performance Management: Monitor and optimise resource allocation to meet production goals, customer fill rates, and quality levels. Report on operational outcomes, ensuring feedback is shared with relevant teams.
Quality & Continuous Improvement:
* Quality Assurance: Oversee product injection and quality assurance processes to meet or exceed established quality standards.
* Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement across production processes and implement changes that increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance quality.
* Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of the production strategy, setting targets and action plans to achieve desired results.
Collaboration & Cross-functional Support:
* Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with teams across the business, including Sales and Customer Service, to ensure a seamless flow of information and high levels of customer satisfaction.
* Support CEO Initiatives: Assist the CEO in executing long-term initiatives focused on OHS, efficiency, quality improvement, and plant investments.
* Budget Management: Manage the department budget and control expenses to meet financial goals.
* Resource Allocation: Ensure that production resources are used responsibly, optimising costs while maintaining output and quality.
Health, Safety & Compliance:
* OHS Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, conducting regular reviews and implementing improvements as needed.
* Incident Management: Investigate and report any accidents, injuries, or health and safety incidents, and take necessary corrective actions.
* WHS Training & Induction: Deliver comprehensive induction and ongoing training programs for all team members.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
* Active participation and engagement in team meetings and toolboxes.
* Achievement of established production and quality goals.
* Regular completion of performance reviews and achievement of set targets.
* Compliance with workplace safety standards.
Required Skills & Experience:
* Proven Leadership: Strong experience in leading production teams, with a track record of motivating, training, and developing staff. Ideally, 7 years' experience in people management within manufacturing.
* Operational Expertise: In-depth knowledge of production management, resource optimisation, and quality control processes.
* Safety Focus: Demonstrated experience in leading safety initiatives and ensuring compliance with OHS regulations.
* Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement solutions quickly.
* Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
* Budget & Resource Management: Experience in managing production budgets, controlling expenses, and optimizing resources to meet financial targets.
