Chief Operating Officer – Gold Processing Focus
My client is a well-established business with a clear focus and strong international backing. With a gold processing plant ready to be recommissioned, they are positioned to play a key role in the WA gold sector, providing toll treatment solutions for stranded deposits while also exploring long-term mining opportunities. The business has a straightforward plan—restart the plant, optimise operations, and build a high-performing team to deliver results.
They are now seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead the planning, start-up, and ongoing operation of the plant. This is a role for someone who has walked this path before, understands what’s required to get a processing operation running efficiently, and can bring the discipline, structure, and leadership needed to ensure sustained success.
The COO will be responsible for leading the entire restart and operational strategy, from capital works and commissioning to workforce development and long-term production management. They will set up the right systems, processes, and leadership structure to ensure the plant meets both technical and commercial performance targets. This is a hands-on Perth based leadership role, requiring someone who can get into the detail when needed but also maintain the process discipline required for Tier 1-level operations. They will work closely with toll treatment partners, ensuring throughput, cost management, and operational excellence remain front and centre.
We are looking for someone with deep processing experience and strong leadership capabilities—someone who can drive operational efficiency while maintaining structure, compliance, and commercial focus. To be considered, you’ll need:
* 10+ years’ experience in gold processing operations, ideally at a COO, Production Superintendent, or Processing Manager level.
* A track record of leading plant efficiency, major ramp-ups, or operational transformations.
* Strong commercial acumen, including experience with toll treatment agreements, cost control, and asset management.
* Ability to build and lead a workforce, creating a high-performance, “want to be there” culture.
* A practical but structured approach, ensuring compliance with mining regulations while keeping operations efficient and cost-effective.
* Experience managing capital projects and plant maintenance strategies, ensuring long-term asset viability.
