The Torrens to Darlington Alliance, comprising of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs, and Ventia is partnering with the South Australian Government to deliver the $15.4 billion River Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Project, the largest and most complex project ever undertaken in South Australia.
The T2D Project involves constructing 10.5km of non-stop motorway, including two separate tunnels with three lanes in each direction, connected by an open motorway. Open to traffic in 2031, the Alliance is offering an incredible opportunity to be a part of an iconic project, career stability, and the opportunity for career progression and development.
The opportunity
We are on the hunt for a Deputy Director, Engagement - a strategic thinker, proactive leader, and community champion with a stellar record of spearheading engagement for major infrastructure (or similar) projects.
As the Deputy Director, reporting to the Director, Communications and Stakeholder Engagement, you will be the driving force behind the strategic planning and execution of all community and stakeholder engagement initiatives for the T2D Project.
Key responsibilities:
* Support the Alliance Management Team to engage with high-level key external stakeholders, such as government agencies, industry, interest groups, and members of parliament, on matters relating to the Project.
* Identify stakeholder and community issues and develop strategies to minimise impacts.
* Provide strategic advice to maximise the social outcomes delivered through the Project.
* Strategically plan and manage contact with external stakeholders and the community in a way that enhances the reputation of the Project, Alliance, and delivery partners.
* Manage and ensure sensitive issues relevant to the Project are identified and issues are escalated where required.
* Oversee the development and implementation of community engagement plans and supporting procedures that complement the overall project Stakeholder Engagement and Media Management Plan and address the needs of the local community.
* Provide strategic advice to the engagement and construction teams to ensure that community and stakeholder activities and notification requirements are understood in accordance with the Stakeholder Engagement and Media Management Plan.
* Ensure all engagement activities adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, as well as industry best practices.
About you
* Tertiary Degree (Bachelor level) or certificate or relevant experience (disciplines relevant to function area, e.g. public relations, journalism, stakeholder management, marketing).
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in community engagement with at least 3 years in a leadership or advisory capacity.
* Demonstrated extensive experience in developing, implementing, and delivering strategic community and stakeholder engagement plans within the construction or infrastructure sector, or other major high-profile projects.
* Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with delivering large-scale infrastructure projects in diverse communities.
* Extensive experience in successfully influencing sensitive negotiations that engages stakeholders and demonstrates a commitment to achieving mutually beneficial outcomes.
* Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trust and maintain strong relationships.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Presents with credibility and empathy and has the proven capacity to convey complex information to a variety of audiences.
* Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, driving performance and delivering results.
* Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to achieve project goals.
* Familiarity with the local area and community dynamics is highly desirable.
