About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, this role ensures that our fleet of heavy vehicles, rigid vehicles, excavators, reach stackers, forklifts, and company passenger cars is effectively inspected and maintained to deliver operational safety and high levels of equipment availability.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure the fleet of heavy and light vehicles, as well as all other equipment, is safe and compliant through effective maintenance scheduling and timely repairs.
* Build and maintain productive relationships with Regional and Branch Managers to optimize vehicle availability and utilization for operations.
* Lead company maintenance employees and fleet support personnel in maintenance planning.
* Manage the company maintenance program (Gearbox) and monitor/report fleet and equipment performance according to plan and schedule.
* Forecast financial requirements for maintenance and repairs.
* Provide technical support and ensure adequate fleet resources to meet customer requirements.
* Train and develop workshop teams to diagnose and troubleshoot technology issues.
* Manage relationships with third-party contractors (e.g., maintenance contractors, auto electricians, hydraulic experts).
* Support back-office teams with asset disposals.
* Ensure asset compliance with state and federal regulations.
* Monitor and report on fleet and equipment availability, utilization, and performance.
* Train and assess fleet team members to ensure they are qualified, licensed, and performing their duties effectively.
* Stay updated on industry trends and legislated changes, recommend improvements, and educate Fleet users on implications.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
* A cleared Australian Federal Police criminal check.
* Tertiary qualifications in engineering, maintenance, logistics, or business.
* Significant experience in Fleet Management and/or maintenance roles.
* Knowledge of logistics and maintenance systems, including NHVAS accreditations.
* Proficiency in computer applications such as Excel and Outlook.
* Strong understanding of transport/waste industry fleet and equipment.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Strong influencing skills with the ability to manage expectations effectively.
