Victorian Network Services & Delivery is a department within AEMO’s System Design Division with the key objective to deliver Victorian electricity transmission projects in the long-term interests of consumers. Critical to the achievement of this objective is program management to support the development and implementation of infrastructure projects to meet those needs (including procurement processes and contract management).
About the role
Working for the Senior Commercial Manager, the Western Renewables Project Senior Contract Manager will manage and administer all contracts between AEMO and its TNSPs and AEO related to the Western Renewables Project (WRL). The Senior Contract Manager will also support the management of other bi/tri party agreements between AEMO and other entities including VicGrid, AEMO contractor and consultants.
This position will assist in managing the commercial, contractual, and financial aspects of the project. It will also collaborate with internal and external cost controllers, schedulers, commercial and legal advisors to maintain a consistent approach in handling commercial and contractual matters, supporting effective contract management and project implementation aligned with project delivery goals.
What you will be doing
* Prepare Memorandums for Board, Steering Committee, CEO and Ministers to request approvals and exemptions for the project.
* Drive and support the analysis, timely assessment, and resolution of claims with due consideration of contractual entitlements and obligations, to provide advice on recommended course of action and manage related contractual communications.
* Escalate matters where required and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, discipline leads and lawyers to review, assess, and manage disputes.
* Oversee and manage month end cost assessment, program assessment and reporting to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and ensure accurate month end costs and program forecasts are maintained.
* Establish and implement reporting tools to monitor contractor performance against Key Result Areas (KRA).
* Manage the engagement with all parties to identify, raise, negotiate, and resolve contract risks, issues, and changes via Change Management Process.
* Mentor and Coach team members ensuring all project costs and risks are defined in appropriate framework and managed effectively during development and delivery phase for successful and safe delivery of the project.
What you will bring to the role
Education/ Certificates
Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g Commerce, Engineering, Finance, Business, Law or Project Management) or equivalent experience.
Experience and Knowledge
* Strong experience in contract administration and dispute resolution of complex infrastructure/construction projects.
* Sound understanding of commercial and contractual issues at all stages of project lifecycle.
* Ability to oversee contract and contractor performance, and promptly escalate issues which can impact project delivery.
* Sound understanding of project cost, schedule control and project reporting processes.
* Highest level numerical and analytical skills; and excellent written skills, including tailoring briefings to different audiences.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including effective negotiation, resolution of complex issues, and building robust relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external, across various workstreams.
* Proven ability to work independently and as a part of multi-disciplinary team to achieve competing priorities within tight timeframes.
