Your future responsibilities
* Participate in the daily project work which can include microfabrication, simulation, measurements, meetings with project partners, documentation, scientific article writing, or administrative work.
* Collaborate with process engineers in building up relevant infrastructure in the cleanroom.
* Contribute or lead the ramp-up characterization tools in the magnetic lab.
* Applied research on magnetic thin films, spintronics, magnetic microsystems and their applications aiming for novel device innovations and industrial process developments with 200-300 mm pilot line capabilities.
* Actively participate with new innovations in spintronic and MEMS devices.
* Contribute or lead new projects and cooperations with the industry as well as national and international funding program participations (HE, FFG, Chips JU, ...).
* Contribute or lead networking and acquisition of international partners from industry and academia.
* Scientific communication, reporting research results in tech documentation and/or in high-level scientific journals, participate in international conferences and drive technical innovation to IP generation.

Your profile
* PhD in physics, engineering or related fields with focus on spintronics, magnetic thin film and magnetic applications.
* Genuine interest in applied research, industrial applications, and scientific progress.
* Practical expertise in developing magnetic material microfabrication processes, ideally for industrial applications on 200-300 mm wafers, design, fabrication and characterization of magnetic materials and spintronics-based technologies.
* Know-how with MTJ, TMR, MRAM, spin waves, spintronics-based MEMS.
* Experience with simulations/design of magnetic devices in general (multi-physics simulations, micromagnetic simulations, magnetic simulation, Python).
* Cleanroom experience with microfabrication and especially with sputter systems for magnetic thin films.
* Project management experience is a plus.
* Ability and motivation to acquire funding, ideally beyond academic research programs, and to collaborate with the industry.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; German is a plus.

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non-university research (Research CA) starting in occupational group E (E1 salary = EUR 3.962, paid 14 times a year) based on 38.5 hours per week. For this position we offer competitive salaries and additional benefits based on your experience and qualifications, starting with a minimum gross salary of EUR 61.000 (annual, based on an All-in contract).
