About the role
As the Factory / Production Manager at Wescorp Sandalwood Pty Ltd, you will play a crucial role in the operations of our sandalwood processing facility in Canning Vale. This full-time position will see you partnering closely with the Sandalwood Manager to oversee all aspects of our production processes, ensuring we consistently meet our quality and efficiency targets.
Wescorp has been processing sandalwood for more than 30 years and is a well-established family business, looking for a long-term team member to lead our wood processing.
What you'll be doing
1. Assist the Sandalwood Manager in planning, scheduling, and coordinating production activities to ensure the continuation of workflow and machinery utilization, ensuring KPIs and deadlines are met.
2. This is a hands-on role that involves acquiring the necessary skills to operate all factory machinery as needed, while maintaining a team-focused attitude with other factory staff.
3. Experience as a machine operator, wood processor, or trade will be favored.
4. Ensure production meets Manager's deadlines and expectations, with consistent quality control.
5. Excellent communication skills working with shipping and sales team to ensure goods are packed and ready in time.
6. Manage your team to ensure timely unloading of trucks and loading of containers. Complete all necessary paperwork for receivables and dispatch.
7. Supervise and lead a team of factory hands, providing guidance, training, roster schedules, and support as needed.
8. Oversee and support the maintenance of all machines, ensuring that records are logged according to the schedule and machine maintenance is scheduled within production time frames.
9. Ensure all production activities adhere to relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations. Work with the ISO/WHS team to ensure staff are trained and following safety guidelines.
10. Contribute to the implementation of factory operating procedures and production policies.
11. Support the Sandalwood Manager in instilling the required culture by personal instruction, example, and leadership.
What we're looking for
1. Experience working with machines.
2. Trade experience or similar hands-on previous work.
3. Experience managing staff is preferred but not essential.
4. Someone who enjoys hands-on work and wants to learn and grow within a new industry.
5. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to think critically and offer creative solutions.
6. Timber industry experience is not necessary as on-the-job training will be provided, with opportunities for advancement in the future.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
