We are excited to welcome a new Site Facilities Officer to our Yatala Manufacturing Site to help manage utility use and environmental practices at our facilities. This role supports efforts to reduce our carbon footprint and promote sustainability.
In this role you will work with external partners, like service providers and engineering teams, to ensure efficient utility use and compliance with environmental standards. You will also encourage site teams to adopt energy-saving practices. If you are passionate about innovation and sustainability, read on!
As the point person for energy initiatives, the Site Facilities Officer follows up on action items from Energy and Sustainability meetings to share best practices across the facility. By working closely with key stakeholders, this role helps maintain compliance with company standards, drive cost savings, and support sustainability goals.
Let's look at the details! What you will do includes:
* Champion site-wide energy and utilities reduction efforts by collaborating with internal teams and external experts to assess and enhance the efficient use of energy across facilities.
* Partner with site leadership and service providers to minimize disruptions from utility breakdowns, ensuring effective maintenance and implementing emergency response protocols.
* Collaborate with the National Environmental Manager and stakeholders to guarantee adherence to EPA regulations and trade waste standards, while driving sustainability initiatives across the site.
* Work alongside safety, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure critical utility assets meet WHS standards and support timely statutory maintenance and uphold operational reliability.
* Monitor and improve the efficiency of on-site wastewater treatment processes, manage waste tracking records, and coordinate with external partners for effective waste disposal.
* Investigate and implement opportunities to enhance water stewardship and reduce usage, collaborating with external experts to identify innovative technologies that align with sustainability objectives.
You will need to have:
* Effective stakeholder management, with the capability to engage with multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities. This means great written and verbal communication skills.
* Exceptional time management, organisational, and prioritisation skills.
* A passion to support energy reduction initiatives, ensuring sustainability goals are met.
* A positive continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to implement and drive recommendations for energy reduction initiatives.
* Strong ability to influence and challenge existing business processes, promoting innovation and improvements.
* Collaborative team player, able to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
* Accountability for waste management processes on-site.
More technically, we are looking for someone who:
* Has a degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Environmental) or Advanced trade qualifications in Mechanical trade or Electrotechnology or Diploma in Facilities Management.
* Proven ability to interpret Engineering documentation (P&ID and drawings) and Utilities Scada screens. Knowledge and working proficiency in AutoCAD.
* Preferably has FMCG experience in the food and manufacturing environment. This includes some exposure to Food Manufacturing standards in building and facilities requirements.
* Is skilled in managing maintenance operations using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and/or Building Management Systems (BMS).
* Has a solid understanding of water utilities (potable, hot, chilled), wastewater, HVAC, boilers, fire detection/suppression/occupancy warning, electrical distribution, compressed air, and refrigeration systems.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in Facilities Management managing hard services (such as but not limited to Boilers, Refrigeration, electrical distribution, chilled/hot/potable town water supply, air compressors).
