Job Description
Assume full responsibility for a team of analog design engineers. The technical area of work is in Power Management Integrated Circuits. This includes technical leadership of the team’s activities, as well as team and individual development and performance management.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Technical leadershipGuide team during their technical work. Monitor progress, help make decisions, perform technical reviews. Drive development to deliver projects to production.Take overall responsibility for specification and the team's design meeting performance, area, power and timescale constraints.Manage cost, methodology, and staffing in order to deliver projects to specification and schedule.Delegate project tasks appropriately, ensuring the entire team follows procedures and analog practices that are required by internal methodology guidelines.Keep abreast of industry developments, driving continual improvements within team through effective change management.Provide support and guidance to TPL, to ensure successful project execution.
2. Team developmentProvide opportunities for team members and monitor performance. Provide regular guidance and feedback.Conduct appraisals, make remuneration decisions, proactively manage performance and drive development for team.
3. RepresentationRepresent the team and their work in interactions with other groups in the company, management, and customers. Assist management with project acquisition and planning.Represent the team and input into corporate engineering processes and methodology improvement discussions.Communicate company and team goals and ensure all team members identify the relationship between company strategy and their contribution.Make significant contribution into the company’s analog strategy, through representation at management meetings, customer reviews and cross-site initiatives.Interact with other group managers and team leads to ensure wider department team cohesion and to rectify issues that arise.
Qualifications
4. Typically, 12–15 years’ experience in analog integrated circuit design and leadership.
5. Track record of delivering chip design from specification to production.
6. Hands-on experience in Power Management circuits such as switching regulators and/or linear regulators with contributions to development of new IP.
7. Deep knowledge of design and verification methodology (flows and tools).
8. Experience in leading technical teams with line manager responsibility, including performance management and salary reviews.
9. Experience with interviewing technical candidates and hiring decisions.
10. Ability to organize, delegate, budget and plan team to meet departmental objectives.
11. Strong leadership skills with an ability to foster a commercial, collaborative and learning environment.
12. Ability to work with Senior Management to develop and work to budget.
13. Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity.
14. Results-oriented mindset and ability to deliver on-time under tight schedule pressure.
15. Ability to work both independently and part of a team.
16. Flexibility to undertake occasional international travel at short notice.
17. Excellent command of verbal and written English.
18. Ability to propose innovative solutions.
19. Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills with high level knowledge & expertise in conflict management.
20. Degree level qualification in Electronics engineering or a related discipline typically required.
