About Us:
Gold Coast Bakery is a family-owned business with over 30 years of experience in the baking industry, renowned for delivering high-quality products across Southeast Queensland. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a passionate and driven Area Distribution Manager to support our vendors and distribution network.
The Role:
As an Area Distribution Manager, you'll play a hands-on role in leading, developing, and supporting our vendors and company drivers, ensuring smooth operations and continuous performance improvement across our distribution network. This is not your typical 9–5 job—you’ll be out in the field, working alongside internal teams and external partners to drive success. Some night work may be required, so flexibility is key.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, develop, and coach vendors and company drivers to improve performance and efficiency.
* Collaborate with the Distribution Manager and Sales team to drive success and meet company targets.
* Maximize route optimization, customer growth, and vendor profitability.
* Provide ongoing training and support to vendors, particularly with relevant software platforms.
* Ensure compliance with company procedures and contractual obligations for new and existing vendors.
* Oversee the maintenance and presentation of company vehicles and manage crates, equipment, and cost control initiatives.
* Foster a strong safety culture and implement strategic safety initiatives.
* Maintain effective communication with operational staff and the sales team to address customer needs and stock management.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Proven experience in people and distribution management, with a strong ability to lead and coach teams.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft applications and business systems.
* Strong operational expertise with the ability to implement, manage, and deliver strategies that improve business performance.
* At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, with a background in distribution or a related field highly valued.
* A proactive, self-starting approach to time management and handling challenging situations with resilience.
* Strong leadership, team-building skills, and financial management experience.
* Knowledge of customer service, health & safety standards, and compliance with policies like HACCP, SQF, and workplace safety.
