Managing Director @ Open Future Lab (powered by ERSTE Foundation)
We are looking for designers with AI tools experience.
ERSTE Foundation has initiated an Open Future Lab, a dedicated research and design unit addressing financial well-being at large. Open Future Lab is a curious, purpose-driven, people-first, evidence-based, and future-building lab. A collaborative social change agent and facilitator exploring and designing financial life. We focus on challenging the status quo of the financial world from the outside in, aiming to develop a more equitable and improved financial future for all. Collaborating with an ever-expanding network of partners, we strive to bridge the gap between the everyday lives of people, academic insights, and real-world applications. By transforming research into practical strategies and designs, we advocate for people-centric and forward-looking changes in the industry, policymaking, and society.
Role
We are seeking designers who are passionate about speculative design and committed to shaping a better future. We value individuals who place people at the core of their design process and are keen to explore and create both physical and virtual artefacts that tell compelling design stories. We welcome designers from any field, whether it be graphic, industrial, user experience, product design, or urban design and architecture. A willingness to embrace the uncertainties of uncharted territories and to learn new skills is paramount. Interest or experience in systems design is advantageous, though not essential.
You will join a transdisciplinary team, working alongside cross-functional colleagues to conceptualise, prototype, test, and communicate ground-breaking solutions that meet the varied needs of people and society. Together, we will identify the most effective tools and methods to realise these designs. At Open Future Lab, our foundational design approaches include design science research, design thinking, and systems design. We prioritise collaborative and participatory design methods in both ideation and prototyping stages. Our focus is on exploratory and experimental design, utilising narrative forecasting and scenario planning, speculative design, and emotion-driven design. If these prospects excite your passion, you are the ideal candidate to become our newest teammate.
