Community Football and Competition Manager - Greater Sydney Juniors

ABOUT THE ROLE
Are you ready to lead the AFL Sydney Juniors Competition? In this pivotal role, you will oversee the management, development, growth, and sustainability of the AFL Sydney Juniors Competition. As a senior member of the Greater Sydney and Northern NSW Community Football team, you will play a crucial role in executing our community football competitions and driving positive change.
Key Responsibilities
* Competition Coordination: Manage and execute the AFL Sydney Juniors competition, ensuring a high-quality experience for participants, officials, umpires, and volunteers throughout the Home & Away season and League finals series. Drive retention across the game.
* Event Management: Oversee key events, including the AFL Sydney Junior Development Carnival and the League Presentation Night, ensuring successful execution and participant satisfaction.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with AFL Sydney Juniors team members, League and Club presidents, and other key stakeholders to foster collaboration and support.
* Competition Support: Provide guidance to competitions and Leagues, shaping structures and implementing programs that promote competitive balance and club sustainability.
* Rules and Regulations Management: Ensure the effective management of League rules, maintaining alignment with national guidelines, and facilitating smooth implementation of bylaw changes.
* Collaboration with AFL Game Development: Work closely with the AFL Game Development engagement team to offer education and support to regions, assisting with league and club development.
* Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert within the Community Football team, playing an essential role in collaborative efforts.
* Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, handle invoices and payments, and prepare financial reports, ensuring financial processes align with organisational requirements.
* Team Leadership & Mentorship: Mentor peers in the Greater Sydney and Northern NSW team, inspiring growth, innovation, and positive influence.
* Collaboration with Other Teams: Maintain strong connections with the Participation & Programs and Club Development teams, aligning efforts to grow AFL participation in Greater Sydney.
* Support for Women and Girls Initiatives: Contribute to the implementation of the Women and Girls Action Plan and support the rollout of coaching and umpire development across the club network.
* Project Contribution: Actively contribute to key projects, both within and outside your core role, ensuring successful outcomes across the board.
* Advisory Board Leadership: Lead the AFL Sydney Juniors Advisory Board to ensure meetings are effective, and key projects and actions are delivered to benefit the competition.
Key Qualifications & Attributes
* Communication & Negotiation Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with strong commercial acumen and the ability to negotiate effectively.
* Operational Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in operational and administrative management, ensuring smooth execution of tasks and events.
* Innovation & Adaptability: Ability to think creatively, challenge the status quo, and drive continuous improvement.
* Strategic Planning: Strong strategic planning and implementation skills, particularly in high-pressure environments.
* Industry Knowledge: A deep understanding of the sporting industry, particularly at the community level, with experience in the football industry or large community-based sports organisations being highly desirable.
* Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all aspects of work.
* Conflict Management Skills: Proficient in managing conflict and resolving issues efficiently.
* Flexibility: Willingness to work outside regular hours, including evenings and weekends, due to the nature of the role.
