Austroads also administers the National Exchange of Vehicle and Driver Information System, a unique national system which enables road authorities to interact across state borders and directly supports the transport and automotive industries.About the roleIn pursuing its purpose, Austroads has an exciting opportunity for a senior technology lawyer to join its supportive and collaborative team as its first in-house legal counsel. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer & General Manager Corporate Services, this role is critical for the organisation.As Head of Legal, you will be responsible for autonomously managing a range of legal and policy matters across the portfolio of the business including:Advising on data issuesPrivacy lawSpam/fraud preventionConsumer law issuesDrafting and negotiating a variety of contractsProviding advice on compliance and risk issuesProviding support for the procurement of goods and services including technologyProviding support to the Chief Financial Officer & General Manager Corporate Services on strategic projectsThe role will involve regular interactions with internal and external stakeholders including the Executive Group and all business units across all levels of the organisation, members and service providers. You will have two direct reports.About youThis role is well suited to a self-motivated senior technology lawyer with 6+ years’ experience gained from a well-known law firm and/or in-house. The successful candidate will have the ability to autonomously manage a range of legal matters; be enthusiastic, collaborative, proactive and agile; be commercially astute; and have strong stakeholder management skills.This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious senior professional who wants to progress their career in the corporate sector.
