About the opportunity
We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Risk and Assurance Manager to support the organisation in the effective management of risk at Energy Safe Victoria. We are looking for a purpose-driven individual with a genuine passion for strengthening risk management capabilities across the organisation.
Key accountabilities:
* Support the Head of Strategy and Risk in ensuring Energy Safe manages its strategic risks, regulatory risks and operational risks effectively.
* Advise the organisation on identification, analysis and prioritisation of risks, as well as critical control performance, at all levels, supporting middle management and team leaders in managing their operational risks.
* Develop and prepare risk reporting via PowerBI or similar, reporting on risk management performance to the Head of Strategy and Risk.
* Ensure Energy Safe's risk management framework aligns with the Victorian Government Risk Management Framework (VGRMF), through an annual risk review.
* Provide expert advice on risk information provided by our duty holders, and the corresponding technical and regulatory response by our subject matter experts.
* Manage the internal audit function and provide advice to the Audit and Risk Committee regarding the effective management of risks across the organisation.
* Lead and contribute to organisation-wide projects or projects with other regulators, representing Energy Safe's interests and effectively managing external and internal stakeholders.
* Develop, implement and manage department owned policies, procedures and documents that ensure Energy Safe achieves statutory responsibilities, strong governance practices and provide value to external and internal stakeholders.
To be successful, you'll have:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications preferably in risk, regulation, law, government policy, science or technology.
* Extensive experience in risk, law, governance, strategy or similar.
* Extensive experience in risk management practices, including the application of technical risk methodologies in high hazard sectors and understanding of risk in the regulatory context or similar.
* Proven record of achievement in risk identification, analysis and representation/visualisation (e.g. bow-tie diagrams) that have driven business process and outcome improvements or similar.
* Project management experience including organising, analysing, problem solving and decision making.
* Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills including initiative, influencing and negotiation skills to ensure effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Excellent strategic agility and ability to work creatively and analytically in decision making and problem-solving environments, with excellent critical thinking and writing skills.
* Ability to focus on high priority tasks, balancing workload of team, mindfully.
* Superior analytical research skills and the ability to provide advice and/or reports to senior management on complex technical issues or regulatory harms, to support decision making.
